I actually suggest keeping the blade on so you can have better leverage and thing to hold when grinding down the spine.I think the best way to do this mod is to take the blade off. Is the Tri-Ad easy to disassemble? Are any springs gonna go flying when I take it apart?
Thank youI actually suggest keeping the blade on so you can have better leverage and thing to hold when grinding down the spine.
You can disassemble triad very easily, much easier than normal spyderco backlock and as easy as a framelock probably. There's not gonna be anything spring flying out. Just unscrew the pivot, and the 2 scale screws, pop the scale open(you might need to pry it because sometimes the stop pins are tightly fitted). Once it's opened, press the lockbar and the blade will come loose.
I basically did that when I created the image; just masked off part of the blade with a simple curve. It will work. I don't mind it taking a while, also the 4116 Krupp is easy to work by hand. One big gouge with a power tool, and it's game over.Oof that will take some time without power tools!
Also I'm not sure you can get the direct line you want from tang to tip - put a piece of tape on it first to see if you can get past that dip without cutting too close to the opening hole.
