Been doing alot of forging the last couple day. Most of its gone to the long bearded head. Been trying to do a boarding ax and this is the closest I've gotten so far. Up till now only hammers have been used. After a little grinding it will look more like what I'm wanting. I even put a can openner on it. The other one is for a customer. Both started out the same size as the piece of steel in the picture. Its 1" square 1084/95 about 6" long. By the time I got done forging the beard on the one I think I've had to trim the beard 3 times so I could get it in the forge.

I plan on doing some banging this w/e myself Ray. Might forge a bit also

What I want to work on is getting the steel widened up a bit before I split and drift it to get a wider band. It makes it look better and less prone to shifting. It's hard to keep it perfectly square though but I think it would be worth the effort.
