What year did knives start coming with the cleaning cloth?

I recently acquired an older CRK that was sold as NIB from a dealer. It did not include the cloth. Did folders always come with the cloth, or was that introduced at a certain point in history?

Thank you

There was a Youtube video of the CRK shop made in 2006 I think that showed how they pack a knife and there was no cloth at that point in time

Older ones didn't have cloth or lanyard pins, but I don't know the exact year they started( I think around 2009, but that is purely a guess). They used to wrap them in tissue paper and you tied the lanyard to the hole. Go back far enough and you didn't get a clip.

That's what I'm thinking also Peter. I bought a September 2009, new old stock, that came in tissue paper. I'd guess late 09 early 10.

2006, but some got out without, or went missing.

Interesting. It must have been hit or miss. My factory direct April 2008 sm.Classic MM (African Blackwood) didn't come with the cloth.

I certainly can't tell by my boxes-some may have been added on the secondary market. I do have a sm. 2006 Classic MM micarta with cloth, but then I also have a Lg. 2000 Pheasant tail with a very dark blue/black cloth. I know I have added a couple to sales over the years.
so boxes didn't help.
