What year was this Case made?

I pretty much have a handle on determining the dates of Buck knives but I haven't a clue when it comes to Case. Can someone help me out with this one and tell me when it was made?
Thanks.

First time I have seen one like that.

My guess (and it is a wild guess) is '95 since they messed around with quite a few tang stamps from 1990 to 2000.

Its a 1995 stamp. Case collectors call that the "floating dots" tang stamp.

On a 1985 knife of that pattern, the dots would be in straight rows on either side of the "SS" and the pattern number would be on the rear tang. The 1985 knife would also have the full pattern number 2159 L SS.

I believe that putting the pattern number on the same side as the CASE tang stamping simplified the manufacturing process a bit - one marking step instead of two.

I love it when I learn something. Thanks for this information.

Yes, thank you. 1995 makes sense. The Case was one of two in a set that I bought, the other one is a Buck 110 made in 1995. Both knives are blade etched or stamped with "Cycle Exchange. Buford, Georgia" and the Case has "Motorcycle Mania, 1996" engraved on the handle. The Buck has that on the blade as well as the other etch. Both knives have "001" (or maybe "100" depending on the way you read it) stamped on the front bolster. I figure that they were done aftermarket since I don't believe Buck ever stamped any bolsters that way.

Looks to me that it has to be an 1985.....
What Case calls the lightening shaped S....is evident on your knife.
And they were not made in the '90's...they were made in the '80s.

The "floating dots" stamp (see my above post) was used in the 1990's even though it resembles in some ways the 1980's stam and is different from the "long tail c" 90's stamp. It was only used on a few single blade lockback patterns that had relatively large tang areas.

Obviously knifeaholic is right as dots only came in straight lines until the 1990's. Fixed blades and lockbacks sometimes follow a little different rule set.

If Steve... I mean... Knifeaholic says something about Case knives you had better listen up.
