I have a few knives I really like a lot but tend to not carry them as much as I wish I did. This is mainly because the knives that I end up putting in my pocket are those knives that are very comfortable to carry. My Vic Cadet is probably my favorite pocketknife to carry followed closely by my Queen small stockman and an old single blade Russell Barlow. What is your most comfortable carrying pocketknife?

I generaly carry a compact pocket knife under 3 1/2 inches. My dad's peanut finds it's way into my pocket alot, as does a number 7 Opinel that has been sanded down, reshaped, and refinished. I do have a Victorinox cadet II that I carry, and it does carry very nice and does all I could wish for a pocket knife to do.

But I am strongly drawn of late to the 3 1/4 inch small stockman like the Buck cadet, or the Old Timer I think is called the middleman. It has just enough more grip area than the peanut, with a bit more versitile choice of blades. And the small buck with the stainless steel hinge pins is a strong built knife.

I know it may be heresy to say this, but my clipped folders (e.g., Spyderco Military, Microtech LCC) are much more comfortable to carry than slipjoints. Maybe it's because they stay in place, but I just find them better in that department.

From a comfort perspective, small is better. My most comfortable carrying pocketknife is a William Henry Spire. It's about the size of the Victorinox Classic and I use it as my gent's knife. Beautiful too. It's just so small. It's size may be an advantage when it's just laying in my pocket, but I do not enjoy using small knives. My hands aren't even that large. Minimum size I like to use is at least the medium stockman.

My Vic Classic SD has been my constant companion for a few months now. I keep an Opinel in my Jeep, and a Laguiole on my kitchen table. And a Case Slimline trapper next to my chair, an Imperial knife/letter opener in my desk drawer, etc, etc... I don't like carrying things in my pockets, so I make sure there are knives around where I'll need them.

Lately it's been a toss-up between a custom Montell trapper or an old 34OT. Hopefully soon it'll be two custom Erickson R1303s

In my right front pocket. Some folks there called it a " railsplitter " but for the life of me I cannot find a definition of that terminology.

A Buck 301 Stockman or 110 - or, about 50% of the time lately, a Spyderco Native in S30V.

A Case Slimline trapper, and a Case medium jack knife. I recently Started carrying this combo after instead of my TL-29 and peanut that I carried for the past couple years. Joe

A small 3 1/4" Queen stockman in a black leather case on my belt.
Could be a cell phone pouch, and works well in an office.

Also a new Queen Utility has found its way into my pocket, and won't leave!

A Spyderco Native for when I am on the road.

My EDC lately has been the Wharncliffe, by Hiroaki Ohta, in my avatar. I'm not sure what the pattern would be. Nice stag, 3.5" closed and a wicked sharp ATS-34 blade.

Hard to beat this for carrying comfort:

Always have a tactical in my pockets as well. My Spyderco UKPK and Boker Trance / Wharcom are notably comfortable, but even large knives like the Manix and Military work well for carry comfort. My most commonly carried knives are a Leatherman Micra, Queen 3 1/4in stockman in carved bone and one of my Spydercos.

For me, the lowly Wenger Highlander. Two layer, cellador. Like a Tinker with a nail file instead of a small blade. Somewhat lighter in the pocket than the three layer Camper. Much more compact than the EKA 88, even though the Swede isn't much heavier. And like the 88, the Okapis are featherweights but not so compact.

Lately my old Wenger SI. I was carrying the Vic cadet because it is VERY comfortable in the pocket, but it is a bit too thin to really get a good grip in, and my Peanut is just a tad bit too short for my needs. I've always loved the Scout/Camper pattern in a knife, so the Wenger has been doing the job for me lately, and a great job of it at that. It has been a few years since I EDCed it, and I had forgotten what a great knife this is.

Lately I have been carrying a case medium stockman and a sak soldier.

Love them both!!!!

Brett

Right now I have been carrying either a Vic Spartan or Old Timer 33OT.
