"Liberal Fascism", amazingly informative book. Never again will I sit idly while some ill informed liberal calls conservatives and gun-rights activists "Fascists".
Some tidbits:
Did you know Mussolini, the founder of the Fascist movement, was a progressive liberal who called for an end to the entrenched, "conservative" government of Italy? He called for Nationalized Healthcare and the abolishment of fatcat corporations?
Did you know Hitler was a vegetarian, believed in holistic, new age medicine and was an ardent advocate of gun control? Did you know his partner in crime Himmler, who was head of the SS and Gestapo was an animal rights activist?
Basically, the book is saying from a historical viewpoint, Fascism, Nazism, Marxism, Socialism and such came into being as a platform to oppose the status quo conservative governments and societies of their times. So to hear nowadays of right wingers and conservative policies being called Fascist is ludicrous, since Progressivism and Liberalism themselves are descended from Fascism.
Why the title "Liberal Fascism"? Because modern Fascism isn't jack booted thugs and brownshirts anymore. Its a more insidious, sneaky kind of Fascism. The kind that prevents you by law from smoking in your own patio in California, or eat trans fats in a New York restaurant. Or arresting you for defending your home and family with a cricket bat in London. This is how Fascism works today.
