"AIRBORNE"

GRAYMAN Knives- Suenami 5, Warrior 5
Swamprat Knives- Ratmandu
Scrapyard Knives- Dumspter Mutt LE
ZT- 0100 Military
Tops Knives- Tom Brown Tracker, Steel Eagle 105, Stryker Defender Tool,
Micro Tech- Crosshair (Full-Serrations)
CS- SRK
Spartan Blades- Hokorus

These are the styles i really like, id eventaully like to get a custom knife made kinda a little bit of all in it.

I don't own any knives on your list but i recommend the chiruwa ang khola :thumbup:

Hey Paratrooper1989, you don't like the Tops Joint Spec ops? I think it's a lot more functional and well designed then any of the other Tops on that list.

The Grayman knives you listed are single bevel models. I advise you to do some research on that grind geometry. If you are not already familiar with it, you will be surprised when you see it up close, if you happen to order one.

But Yeah I like the crosshair with full serrations too.These are the tops that I think are well designed.

Arakeil,

Hey i did notice that, and dont really like it much or whats its for. is there anyway to get a double bevel instead of single? or what does single do? is it better?

Nternal,

How long is the blade of the joint spec ops? i do like the apache falcon, but i like the "pathfinder school" knife better.

I'm just looking for a hard core deployment knife, that i can pry, cut, chop, stab, dig. and not break. i want a full tang, no blade length bigger then 4-6" preferably micarta handles. I already purchased my esee-5 for camping and survival situations. I'll prob bring it on deployment also though lol

You got a pretty solid list going there.

You might want to check out entrek knives.

Also right now i lust after Dervish knives, the centaur model really speaks to me.

My personal favorite TOPS is the Alaskan harpoon

Also mind if i ask what you unit you were in?

Razorsdescent,

I really like the Entrek USA 11 Bravo. Thank you for that, not to bad in price either. Im with the 173rd Airborne Division.

JOINT SPEC OPS

* Overall Length: 13 1/8"
* Blade Length: 7 1/2"
* Thickness:1/4"
* Steel: 1095 High Carbon Alloy
* Handle:White/Black G-10
* Blade Color: Gray Traction Coating
* Sheath:Combat Ballistic Nylon

Anything swamprat or scrapyard would be a excellent choice. Followed closely by the ZT.

You will find mixed opinions of TOPS knives but from my experience they are a well made product. It should be noted that most of their fixed blades are HEAVY and cutting performance is often a after thought.

My personal choice is the RMD, the handle on that knife is sooooooo nice.

looks like a fairly solid list, as you realize job function dictates blade & alloy choice. to date no one product can handle every job. my pick for out city is a good edge holding folder ,,with a decent straight knife having some toughness.--dennis

its not so much the knife i like, i love the style and curve of the blade.
If you like the style, there are other "Tracker" knives out there, usually referred to as "WSK" or Wilderness Survival Knife - the original design seems to have come from David Beck, it's his in the movie "Hunted". A guy who went by Red Scorpion Six produced an imitation model in stainless and carbon steel for awhile - he wasn't an honest guy, and the knife is expensive, but I've heard no complaints regarding performance of his "Predator" and "Raven" WSK's. I do not own one.

Also, Fox Knives (of Italy) produced a similar "Trakker" - here is a review - and they have a variety of other models that may interest you, you can browse them here, along with some from brands like Extreme Ratio, TOPS, etc.

Crusader Forge and Relentless knives make some interesting (though expensive) models that may interest you...

You've already heard my say on the RatManDu - I'm a fan of Swamp Rat Knives, they're USA-made and have a total warranty, just like that ESEE-5 you're getting... which I personally think will suffice for all your deployment needs, but who am I to stop a man from buying more knives!! ;) (Just be cautious, your wife might have other plans for such finds.:o)

HAHA ya she already hates me cuz im always on this site now 24/7. but yes im very excited for my esee 5, already plan on dying the handles n customize the sheath a lil more by puttin a leather back on the kydex so i can also carry it horizontally on my back like i like too. i really do like the ratmandu, and will eventually get one. thanks for all your input

If you're thinking about getting a RatManDu, this is the best time to get one, since they're currently in production. When that stops, you'll pay a lot more for one on the secondary market.

Beyond that, let me give you another choice to add to your list... the Busse SJTAC. You can see a few here:

and here:

And while we're busy spending your jump pay for you...

Anything from Grayman, Swamprat or Scrapyard are excellent choices. I do love my Mutts!
