Whatever happened to Kevin McClung?

just google mad dog knives and you will see they are as busy as ever and have their own forum.

The funny thing is that despite all the ruckus he really makes great knives. differentially treated 01, hand ground, hand sculpted G-11 handles, superlative sheaths. Sharp.
Good stuff. Beware, hard to find.

Agreed, also a little on the high end but what newer makers are charging now a days, I know i can sell an MD at a profit not at a 70% loss like most newer makers i have purchased

I have four of them...he does indeed make a great product

His knives are pretty darn good, but I hate the chrome plating the blades get.

yup, back in the day(1997-98) this was the big argument I had with him about his knives. Many problems with chrome plating a carbon steel since hard chrome is not a vapor barrier. Also O1 did not take well the 62 Rc as many of the knives were quite brittle when used hard even though the spine was somewhere around 50

Probably the best feeling handles. Still Mission's MPK A2 was a better knife IMO.

funny...out of my four mad dogs, only one is chromed ;)

RL

then you have some rare ones because just about all of the ones I saw many moons ago were chromed and that was the std.

yes that is true...i have a street razor, for example...only a few of these were ever made (I mayyyyyy be willing to trade it for willrise's saxon ;) )...also, his ceramic and G10 knives are not coated ;)
