Whatever Happened to the Competition Blade Idea?

I was just thinking about posting the same question! I'd still like to have one... or twenty!

I was wondering the same thing myself. Jerry got me all wound up when he spoke about the cutting power of these competition blades.

I bet they'll be released in "two weeks.":foot:

I guessed I missed this. Did Jerry mention that there would be an official Busse Combat Competition blade?

He showed some shots of what he dubbed "Competition Grade". If I recall correctly, they are kind of unfinished blades that are used to test different factors of a design. He eluded to having quite a few from all different stages of Busse history.

It would also be a good chance for those of us that dabble in Blade modifications and re-handling to really test our skills and finish out a Busse. Or, you could leave it as-is and have the ultimate user.

You guys can have the Straight Handles!! Give me some of the good ol' E line up!

I was actually thinking about ordering a custom and asking for "Competition Grade Finish" and see if it'll actually go through!

Sounds like a great opportunity for users and moders to get themselves some new 'cheap' blades to have some fun with. Count me in

I know I didn't see too many pictures of them, but what I did see I thought was a good idea for a sale. Hell, I love just a plain blade,no coating no nothing.

Don't worry.

The idea is still OUT THERE.

Jerry doesn't forget.

It just has to marinate for awhile ... seek its own gravity ... find its own level ... and its own time.

It's a zen concept, I know, but the time will come... :D

I like the whole concept, but the savings would have to be pretty significant for it to make a difference for a lot of people. A can of stripper is pretty cheap, and folks seem to be getting better at shining up stripped blades.

Ah but if it came convexed from the factory that would be a selling point for me. I mean, I *could* do it myself, but why if I don't have to? I don't get why they ever went to any other grind.

My guess is that people complained about keeping them sharp with a Sharpmaker or crock sticks.

After using my BM-E and SH-E, I'm not sure why they don't still do assymetrical edges.
