What's a Good Alternative to a Fallkniven A1?

Hey all,

I'd like to pick up a nice fixed blade for hog hunting here in Texas, woods bumming, camping and so forth. I really like the FALLKNIVEN A1, but it's right at $185, which is out of the budget.

I like the size of the blade, 6.3" and 1/4" thick, and the shape. The ONLY thing I don't like so much is the price. So, I thought that I'd ask and see if you all can suggest some alternatives to the Fallkniven A1 that aren't as expensive.

I know eventually I'm gonna want to get an A1, but until then, I'd like to get a decent, capable knife to act as a stand-in.

Can you give me some suggestions please?

Thank you for your time and help.

Does this mean you want only stainless steel blade or are high carbon choices allowed?

My first thought was Cold Steel SRK in Vg1 $75ish. Handle might be short if you have a big hand. Also a cheaper version in high carbon steel for $40+.
I love my Gerber Strongarm although the blade is 4.8". The 420HC isn't bad for $60.

Schrade and Steel Will has some options too.

THANK you all.

Have a great 4th of July Holiday with your family and friends. Also.....an extra special wish for those who are soldiers, retired vets, our police, LEO's of various capacities, firemen and other first responders. Prayers for you all to have a wonderful 4th Holiday!

I intend on getting a MORA. I like the 4 inch model with the thicker blade. When I look at them though, I find myself wanting more and more of them though.

Cold Steel SRK and if you don't mind more weight and a longer blade a Recon Scout or even a Trail Master. Six inch knife seems a little short for hunting hogs doesn't it?

If I am not mistaken, does'nt Fallkniven offer the blades in a kit knife? Put the handle on that you want or find someone who will here on the forums.
