Just wondering what's a good fixed blade utility/edc knife? It has to be small because I'm thinking of using it at work, but not too small. Probably a 3 inch blade. Thanks.

For Production look at a Buck Strider 888 Solution, Ontario RAT-3D2, and a Cold Steel Master Hunter Carbon V. Ranger Knives also does some nice small fixed blade work. Of those listed my preference is the Buck Strider 888 Solution in ATS-34 with the Bos heat treat, the ergos of the handle and choil just worked better for me.

5160 steel blade, micarta handle and custom sheath from survivalsheathsystems!

I like the CRKT companion. Remember it is gonna get hard use so don't spend so much you are afraid to use it.

Bark River Mini Canadian. I carry mine in a hip pocket sheath and don't really use folders anymore. It has a stout but very sharp 2 1/4" blade.

You should be able to find something to your taste at Ragnar's Ragweed Forge. He has lots of small fixed blades.

I'll second any small utility by CRKT for a work knife. Great price, good solid usuability. I got a Falcon for $16 including a good sheath. If you lost it, your blood pressure would go up a bit.

Anza makes more than a dozen in that size, nothing performs like they do and they cost far less than most name brands

...RAT-3 in 1095 (no more D2 until I figure this stuff out!)
for a little bit smaller knife...
...Bark River mini-Skinner or mini-Canadian

How about a Buck Small Diamondback Guide?

3 1/8" blade made of perfectly good 420HC steel
Rubberized handle & nylon sheath

...and best of all, can be found for around $20.

You won't feel guilty about using it, and it will serve you well.
