What's a good Kershaw dealer in Oregon

I'll be visiting Oregon, the home of Kershaw, around 4th of July.

What's a good dealer/knife shop around Portland, Bend, or Rogue River? AFAIK, there is no factory store.

Off topic: the Benchmade factory store is also on the list.

Thanks.

You would think there would be one somewhere but I have yet to find it and I've looked... A lot.. The best prices and selection is Keith's Sporting Goods in Gresham. Gun shop..Large selection of BM autos and a good selection of others at near internet prices. BM factory store has lots of stuff but at MSRP. They do have a fair selection of vintage first production runs and limited run stuff.

Andy and Bax is has a good selection but at MAAP prices but is worth the stop just to wander. Mostly mil-sur but they also have other random sporting goods.

Wholesale Sports is your best bet for Kershaw. Pretty much all of the Chinese stuff and the cheaper stuff. They at one time carried higher end stuff like the Outcast. They do have the new OD and DS Blurs though. No JYD or composite Leek or anything. The one on 82nd or the Vancouver one has a RipCord still. Prices are MAAP I believe.

Fishermans Marine by Delta Park has a small selection but had a composite JYD and I believe have a Rake. They also have a fair number of Chinese made. They also carry a small number of BMs.

Excalibur Cutlerys in the malls has a decent selection of all knives. Not a lot of Kershawa generally. They have a lot of SOGs and Spydercos usually. Theyll probably have a ZT 350 and an 0200 in the ZT line. They also have a few customs and BM gold class at most locations. I can't remeber which malls they are in but I believe the Vancouver mall and Clackamas.

If you get south Ruiz Security/Knife n Edge in Eugene is great if he is still in business. He has been trying to sell the knife shop but was at the OKCA show and looked like he had new inventory so he may be giving it another go.

If there is a gun show you might catch Dave/Kershawguy but I believe he is now just focusing on internet sales. There are a few people that sell new at shows, and lots of people with a pile of blems. Todd Englert (??) not sure on the name, I believe is a gun show regular with a lot of blems. Depending on the show you can sometimes catch Betty Budil from Double Eagle knives in Tacoma with a large BM booth. I think shes in her early 80s and a bit of a legend.

I'd avoid Hawthorne Cutlery and the overpriced consignments. Other people have a different opinion but are likely the people who have their knives there. If you have lots of time then it might be worth a stop but there are better shops.

Great list oregonknifenerd! I'll sure stop at a couple of places. Will try to catch a gun show too, thanks for the advise.

It helps to try before you buy. I thought I would like ZT/Hinderer line, but when I tried a few knives in person it just didn't click with me despite their great quality (same with CRK Umnumzaan). So they are lower on my whishlist now. It was good to find out. That's the problem with buying knives online. I like the Kershaw catalog, but there's no big selection of Kershaws here in the "knife friendly" SF Bay Area besides the staple Leek/Blur and the cheaper stuff plus some ZTs.

MSRP/MAAP will not be a problem since I'll be mostly looking, maybe buy something modest just to compensate the retailer's time with me :)

I like the experience of buying something at the place where it's made, well, at least close by.

Wow, Leatherman factory and store is in Oregon too (duh!) No factory tour on 4th of July Wednesday, unfortunately.

I hate to get to far off topic... Not knife or Kershaw but in a similar vein, Danner boots is here also. I've loved there stuff for a long time. I bought my first pair when I was 12 or 13. They have a great store with great deals on factory seconds. Depending on the time of day you can usually watch them work.

I wish I was in Oregon for this reason. I love my Danner Mountain light II and would like to get a pair in brown if I ever make it to the 2nds store!

Yup and we have the best Sun block in the nation and it's free, we call it rain, and it never stops, ha.

Do you now what size you wear? Some of their stuff fits kind of weird like a normal 13 needs a 11 wide. I'd pick you up a pair at cost plus shipping and pick out a pair with the most minor issue. Typically they are just glue over run around the sole or little dings in the leather that are what you'd get the first time wearing them out. You'd have to wait a bit though, I can pick them up but it will take me awhile to make time to wait in line at the post office. Beats paying full price at Scheels or whatever they have in ND these days.

Last ones I bought were off fleabay. I may have to hit you up on that. They don't have anything in in North Dakota for decent Danner stuff, or knife stuff for that matter. Do most of my shopping online. Let me know if you are ever going to go hit up the outlet!

Absolutely enjoying my stay here in Oregon. You guys are lucky. Please cherish and preserve what you have.

Sorry, no Kershaw pic today.

Which McMenamins did you end up at? What are your thoughts on the various knife places?
Thanks for bringing some nice weather to our state! :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying your stay - you just happened to be here for the nicest day of the year! Are you still in the Tualatin area?

Just found that the big "wholesale" kershaw dealer here has Echelons in stock at a great price and the one in Vancouver still has a few RAMs!

Too much time on the road with the missis in tow, so it's been just little knife shopping. The upside is we were getting the freebies for two. Leatherman and Benchmade only. But these two had put me way over budget. Benchmade had a sale. It's probably still on. Picked some discontinued warehouse finds :)

Freebies??

Wish I would have known about the Benchmade sale. Instead I ran around to a few pawn shops looking for gems. Found a Cyclone blem and a beat up E.T. that to me was not worth purchasing. Hope you are enjoying our state. Hope you find a Kershaw or ZT to squeeze in your budget to take home!

Back home with my Kershaws. Needs Work is my most recent purchase and my favorite work knife.

... and some Oregon goodness

Yes, freebies. The T-shirt and flashlight, the hat (X2), plus a couple of what I think is pepper spray holsters with NRA logo.

The McMenamins place was somewhere on twenty-something street in Portland. And I didn't know the wine sampler is almost like six full glasses for $10 :)

And so much on my list for the next trip to Oregon! There definitely will be a next trip.
