Iam buying a friend of mine, a knife to carry while on duty. Any suggestions? Under $150. Thanks

Id have to say a Spyderco Military, Zero Tolerance 0350,or a Benchmade Griptilian... There are others that would be suitable for an officer but, these are my preference for under $150

I carried a Spyderco Delica-3 for most of the time I was a cop. Never felt the need for anything else.

Just like stated above Emerson's (many good choices) I like the Commander, ZT's, Spydercos, Benchmades etc. They are all good brands just depends what his taste is, if you know what that is.

What type of work does he do? Highway Patrol, City, Foot, Detective, perhaps a specialty unit that will make the difference. If he is an FTO or firearms instructor he may have different needs also. Maybe one of the new Leatherman Mut or VTac Multitasker Tools will be best.

Maybe a rescue knife with a seat belt cutter and if he is allowed to have something other than issued gear on his duty belt a folding sheath knife like a buck 110 ( pretty much any knife can go into a sheath) would be better.

Because of all the gear on my duty belt it is awkward to carry anything in my front pockets and they are pretty useless, sometimes when I do carry a knife in my front pocket it will bind on my gear and pinch my leg. I have to clip it on my pants appendix carry style. The only knife I can carry comfortably in my front pocket if my Case Sowbelly which takes some digging to get out.

Lots of choices and any high quality brand is a good start.

A large Sebenza - very light & extreme quality

A 3.5" Hinderer XM-18 - a "bit" heavy but a hard use knife with Sebenza like quality good for jobs that would snap the tips of a Sebenza or a Spyderco Military.

Ka-Bar TDI for weapon retention

Agree on Spyderco - (Endura 4 G-10 FFG), lightweight, razor sharp, almost a 4" blade. I have one and looked around and they're discontinued but still a few around (really nice)

Benchmade 950 rift is perfect.

A Benchmade 940 series knife. Lightweight, quick deployment, comfortable to carry and use.

i would get a few together and ask him what he wants. something from sydercos sage line could be nice. or maybe the tenacious or resilience. both are pretty dang cheap. the endura is a great deal too. you dont need to spend $150 to get quality. im surprised no one has mentioned the benchmade 710 either.
