What's a good short bladed (3" or less) stout folder?

I just got my leek and it's fun as hell, sharp and perfect for when i'm at the office but the blade is so narrow i'm afraid to use it for any heavy type cutting for fear of breaking the blade (which might just be paranoia on my part). I also have an Endura which seems very strong but is a bit too long for EDC in certain settings.

Any 2.5" to 3.25" "thick" bladed knife out there for more strenuous cutting that you guys could suggest?

$40 range. Right now the Native and Delica come to mind but I'm hoping you guys could name some more to consider.

My Byrd G-10 Meadowlark is quite stout, and the jimping and choil would help out during heavier cutting tasks. It is also priced well within your budget.

Any SS Byrd that will fit into your blade limit.
If Monochrome is acceptable, I also suggest similar Camillus CUDA EDC

The Spyderco Salsa is a pretty good little knife if you can find one. Nice blade on that one also that is wide and short but quite capable. I know a guy that has a combo edge titanium one he wants to sell or at least he did.

The Leek will handle any resonable job. And the Endura is perfectly acceptable edc if the job is too heavy for the Leek. You're simply looking for an excuse to buy a new knife.

Don't let us stop you. ;)

If you can find one, I would strongly recommend the Spyderco Li'l Temperance. That thing is a mini-tank as far as construction is concerned. It has a CPM 440V blade of 3", G10 scales, and a compression lock. This is one of Spyderco's Martial Bladle Craft rated knives. They are darned hard to find, and expensive when you do find them but they are well worth it if you are limited to a 3" blade. You might try:

LOL you're probably right....but please let me continue fooling myself into thinking I need another knife.

Just to be kind to my wallet i'm targeting a Byrd knife

I like the design of the Byrd crossbill. Is that design of curved blade a strong one? I'd like to get something with a G10 handle to try it out....are the meadowlark and cara cara the only Byrd's with G10?

I just won a Large Kershaw Cyclone on Ebay for $34 plus shipping! Cheaper than some of my Leeks but much stouter blade! Plus On/Off switch for the AO.

i would say either a spyderco delica or a MT mini SOCOM elite - the mini elite is a little more ($120 or so) but is a stout little knife imho.

Second on the MT SOCOM, these are darn fine knives, a bit more $$ than most, but you really do get what you pay for with this one.
