Im a watch nut! I cant afford the ones i want though. :( These include Rolex, Omega, Tag Huer. That being said. Some Tags are not too expensive used. Whats a good watch to go with? Seiko maybe?
I prefer mechanical to battery powered watches. Im old fashioned i guess. Id like to keep the price under $300. Thanks for any advice.

How about a Bill Yao custom Seiko? I got mine a few days ago and I love it. Best watch I ever owed. MKII Watches

I got the Seiko Automatic Diver with the MoD Date Dial and Sword hands. I just ordered a Kevlar strap with the deployment clasp.

I have many autos including the Rolex Submariner i always lusted after. The best bang for the buck auto i have ever owned is an Oris date pointer. Excellent fit and finish, consistant accuracy and very fairly priced. I own two and am pleased with both. Give www.timezone.com a shot, always a few for sale.

I'll second a custom Seiko from mkII watches. You get a good reliable watch, with a look and features that you want. Bill Yao has many options available.

Just received my Grand Carrera Calibre 36. It has a "El primero " movement technical type is OK with me, they generally keep excellent time and are, hopefully, trouble free. I know, if I am to completely embrace the watch community I need to get into 7750's and ETA's, maybe next time. Anyway tag heuer grand carrera calibre 36 looks great, although I will, with trepidation, have to remove at least one link from the bracelet so that it fits. Pics below.

That's like asking what's a good knife?

Do you want a diver? Flieger? chronograph? plastic? steel? titanium? date? no date? big? small? leather? bracelet? nylon?

Seiko's are good quality watches and they have watches ranging from very affordable to quite expensive. I got a few and had some that I sold, all around the 100 euro point. My favourite watch is the Seiko SKX023, a mid size diver.

Hey, give navin a break. I mean, as nice as his watch is, it doesn't tell him what year it is...

My favorite brands in order of price are Breitling, Bell & Ross, Hamilton and Victorniox. You can find a good Victorniox for the price you are looking at. Also take a look at Citizen and Seiko, they both have watches in your price range.
