I can't find ANYTHING that will make it open smoothly, evenly, and with low effort.

It feels tight no matter what I do.

TOO tight.

My native III was very tight when I got it too (a few weeks ago). I used militec on the round, semi-circle part (3 separate applications) and it still didn't open that evenly. Finally, I just rinsed it under water for a long time, let it dry, and it was smoother! Maybe spydie dropping it constantly helped too

Well, the ....water..... did it. This is the SECOND knife I have had to resort to hot water with. Amazing! Metal ....pivoting....things that hate oil.

I suppose Monty Python could prove that knives are water simply by the logical test that oil and water do not mix and oil and knives do not mix, ergo, knives are water.

:D

Seems silly, but I tried everything on both this Spydie and on my SAK. Oil freezes them up.

My favorite so far is Ballistol Multi Purpose Sportsmans Oil (made in Germany).
Christopher at SFO  turned me (& SFO) on to it several years ago.
Try it. I think you'll be impressed.
Aloha~

You might check out XF7 from MDtactical.com I have used it on a tight LCC beater I have been carrying and it really slicked it up without gunking up the works.. Its pretty amazing stuff, and keeps rust away like nobody's business..
