What's a NIB Large Regular Sebenza Worth?

I found a Large Regular Sebenza today in the local knife shop. He always has discontinued knives and old stock, and usually gets the price right. Meaning he inflates with collector's appeal. I'd love a regular Sebenza, but I just don't know if it's worth it. What do you guys think?

BNIB $640
BNIB w/Gold inlay work $740

Thanks for any insight.

640 seems a little high,

If you are lucky, which someone was here today and scored a used one for 275, you can sit on the forums exhance and keep a close eye open, you can see them go for around 400, or less for a slightly used one.

Yeah that's the way I felt. I think $500 would be plenty for one NIB. His prices keep the things in his case, but these are by far his highest compared to market. Just making sure I wasn't passing on a reasonable deal.

$600+ makes no sense for a plain Regular Sebenza, unless you're having a complete collection or something, because you can get an Annual Sebenza with those fabulous inlays or around that much.

i have a NIB 1997 lg reg seb that i've been saving for my son. That year I bought 3 sebs so I decided to keep one pristine

650 for a plain Regular is a pretty wild price, I'd say a wee bit north of 400 is about as much as one should pay.

They are bringing quite a bit but not 650. I don't think I have ever given 500 for one. I have given 450+ though.

I've got a NIB Lisa's Pick of the Month Sebenza from a few year back. My understanding they were one of a kind. Brought it for $475 at that time (about 3 or 4 years ago).

$400 for my first bg42 large reg decorated
$500 for my second bg42 large reg decorated
$600 for my bg42 decorated umfaan

it's a little steep for a plain jane one IMO.
