What's a Nimravus?

Yeah, I know, it's a knife. Right. There are many meaningless names used for various knife models, but a nimvarus is a real name for something. What is it?

I tried several searches and came up with several Japanese language sites. I finally found out what it is, but still don't know what it looks like.

Any guesses?

a nimravus is a very small multi legged creature that burrows itself into your sac and sucks testosterone from you on a continuing basis til it gets huge and very muscular. then it takes of and terrorizes other multi legged creatures smaller than itself. one mean bug

Nimravus (link to artist's conception) passed the great trademark search test. It's an early model of largish kittycat with big teeth from the Oligocene era (umpety-million years ago), now discontinued.

Somehow I had not pictured the cat as striped! Oh well, Maybe the picture is of pre-production model, without the BT coating.

Since known Nimravus fossils are way too old and way to far south to have been frozen intact with their fur on, we can imagine this kitty as striped (up and down or lengthwise), spotted, tabby, solid, piebald, tan, brown, grey ....

If Benchmade ever makes a big "tactical" fixed blade, it should be named Smilodon for the big saber tooth tiger from the La Brea tar pits, here in LA, where all the fossils come in tactical black!

Nimravus, I've got to admit, is a cool name for the blade to which it was given. However, Smilodon just doesn't have that same panache as Nimravus don'tchaknow.
I mean, ya pull your knife and show it to your friend and he asks "What's it called?" you reply "Why, it's a Smilodon!" at which point he laughs so hard he slips on the knife and hurts himself.

Nah, wouldn't work...

Hopin' like Hell they don't name the new knife "Smilodon",
