What's a reasonable amount to pay for a Desert Jack?

I'm looking at purchasing a mint Desert Jack, which is a knife I wanted for quite a while, but I've never seen one go on the secondary market before, so I'm not sure what is reasonable. Someone has contacted me about buying one, but I'm just not sure what a fair price is on this knife. Any help is appreciated.

Mods, if this is an inappropriate thread, I apologize, just let me know and I'll shut it down.

Any help is appreciated!

Ever handle one? If you had, you'de know an arm and a leg would be reasonable enough.

Seriously, you just don't see these come up for sale. Love mine. One of the finest blades from the Swamp. You couldn't get mine for $300. $400 is a maybe. $500 would be a definite (sorry Bully).

FYI theres one for sale on e-blow for 375 or buy it now for 425.00,,,good luck in your search. It must be one hell of a knife for that price

I saw a used not abused one go in ebay a few months ago for $210 ish...with a sheath. Thought it would have gone for more though...

don't know if that helps.

But, you can always just do a search on the for sale section and get a read on how much they have been going for the last year or two...

Gotta be carefull, or you'll get dinged for auction spotting. A BIG no-no here.

I sold mine some time ago for $285 with a kydex sheath. The economy was a bit better then. I don't think I'd pay more than that now for one that was mint.

If it is used, I think it would probably go for significantly less. Generally speaking, used knives versus mint knives from the Swamp do not seem to hold their value quite as strongly as used INFI versus mint INFI.

Also, if you search the entire thread for "desert jack" (quotes included) in the general "for sale:production knives" by individuals category (not just the Busse family category), you will see a lot of hits. The reason for this is because Busse family blades were not always sold in their own sales forum. People got tired of seeing their non-Busse knives go to page 3 so fast because of all the Busse activity, so Spark finally created a Busse family sales forum. But the Desert Jacks were around a lot before that, and were just sold in the general forum.

Hope this helps.

Well, I picked one up for $300 with a Kydex sheath. A little more than I wanted to pay, but I just didn't run across any other deals on this particular blade. Everyone seems to rave about this specific knife, so I hope it lives up to the hype when I get it!.

It will:)

Its the closest thing made to an original "INFI" SJ.

THey are real nice:thumbup:

This is probably some form of sacralig but I like the look of the Desert Jack better than the original Satin Jack and in a small blade SR101 does not seem to have an real negatives besides possibly rust resistance.

Congrats! Post photos and thought when ya get it! I love that handle style.
