What's all the Fuss in the Custom Forum?

Has anyone read what's going on in the custom forum? I wondered why it took custom makers a year to get a knife out. Now I know. They are all too busy pissing each other off on the forums, making up, pissing each other off again and then finally saying how sorry they are.

I guess the world of knifemaking is more pressure filled than you would expect.

Just a dose of sarcasm from a newbie who doesn't know much. I know I didn't use any smiley faces, but don't take this post too seriously. Just a reality check so you guys know how silly all those posts look to a new forumite.

JT

Sure glad you felt the need to dredge it up again, JT. Sarcasm or not.
(Oh, forgot my smiley.)

A word for all our relative newcomers: stating, "Gosh, you guys sure do look silly," whether or not the forumites in question do indeed look silly, is not the best way to get yourself welcomed into this tribe with open arms. Cheese off the wrong people, and you're liable to get flamed to a nice golden brown. Trust me, I know. ;)

I thought it was pretty damn funny myself. But then again I'm of the opinion that too many people 'round here take themselves too damn seriously.

:p
:D

Another fng here .

People need to get a serious reality check . This is just a place to discuss our love of knives and the like , not really a life or death area here . ( really folks loosen the ole hinnie hairs up a bit some people have them wound just a little to tight ) Oh well I guess I just went up in flames .

Regards,
Jerry

Jerry/JTurner,

Welcome to the forums.

The forums are a great place to learn about knives, and there are literally thousands of people willing to share information with you. But, for some of our better known members, the forums are also a place of business. It's an excellent tool for sharing with existing and potential customers. So it has to be taken seriously; many makers and dealers have created or distroyed their reputations on these sites.

Stick around and enjoy, but understand that there will be the occasional flair-up, and that most of these will be resolved professionally.

Now...now Razoredj, I never said anyone was silly. I said the posts were silly. I do enjoy your posts, especially the new face picture everytime I read a one lately (although a few of those have been a bit silly). I will take your advice to heart and I have learned a bunch from hanging around here. Thanks for that.

To quote Hank Hill, "Don't play lawyer-ball, son." Still, your point is taken.

I was having an identity crisis. I've settled on the Smiling Bespectacled Avatar of Razorian Friendliness.

That's all it was, really -- I didn't intend it as particularly serious criticism.

;) :p

N2S ,

Thanks for the reply . I understand what you are saying about flair ups . When large numbers of people are stating views someone is going to be unhappy . I enjoy the forums alot and spend most of my time at the custom forum ( I carry customs daily ) . I have met many great people over the years in the knife industry and agree there is a wealth of knowledge to be learned here . I just feel some folks take simple meaningless coments way to seriously . I don't mean to offend anyone .

Yeah JT, Razor is just the guy you want to be listening to on how to fit in on these forums.

Or you may just want to order his book, "How to overuse quotes and get on everyones Ignore List" The book comes with a wall-sized poster of Razor's avatar which has been proven as a very effective appetite suppressant. :barf:

(Razor, I'm kidding, Please do not start another apology thread)

Now that's actually pretty funny. ;)

Wow...Razoredj, you got him to laugh. See, there is a sense of humor over in the Custom Forum afterall. I know, I know... I can hear the reply right now, "Well, if you had actually said something funny, I would have laughed."

Sorry... us newbies don't quite have the Bladeforums humor down just yet. I'll keep trying and you keep smiling Blues.

All this reminds me of something I memorized a long time ago (in public school even Razor lol ;) )

"to thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night the day, thou can not then be false to any man."

I don't have the book of Hamlet to make sure it is exactly right but that is the gist of it. Act II scene III or was it Act III scene II?

Welcome to all,

Wade

JT, don't worry, lawyers keep me laughing every day. ;)

(Couldn't resist, nothing personal. When you get to know me you'll find, if you come to chat or hang around here long enough, that I'm one of the cutups who enjoys irreverance and a lot of humor. It's only because of the situation with my good friend Gus that this matter really got me irked to begin with. Sorry if I came across as a bit rash earlier.)

Razoredj,

You are bringing tears to my eyes. That was one of the funniest responses I've seen in a long, long time. Good job!

BTW, I couldn't find it on Amazon. Am I visiting the right site? ;) I'm sure this will be a best seller if I can purchase one.

I do believe the appropriate acronym for your picture would then be "sBarf". ;):D

I'm glad I don't have a digital camera. One posting of my picture and I'm sure to be on everyone's ignore list. As for the custom forum intertribal warfare, I love it. It's better than a soap opera some days. :D
