That's the exact question I have been asking. I never liked the looks of them and thought the price point was bloated.... with that said, I now understand what the "hype" is all about! I picked up a paramilitary 2 today and love the refinement, feel, and useful design of this blade! I've definitely been bit by the spyderco bug. I just can't believe I went all that time without one, it definitely blows my other folders out of the water..... I foresee many new knives in my future.....

For the price, I don't think I'll be buying anything else.

I buy other brands for the variety to add to my EDC

Good luck with the bug!

I used to think they were expensive. Then I bought some really expensive knives. Then I sold those knives and I've still got my Spydercos. They're high-value knives for sure.

I've been collecting knives since I was a preteen, and that has been many a year ago. My first Spyderco was a Police model. I picked up more Spyderco's as the 80's came to an end, but after that, none. I went 18 years before I bought another one and that was the Persistance. I was pretty impressed with that knife, and ended up giving it to a friend, who also liked it really well. I had/have been reading a LOT of good things about the Spyderco's coming out of Taichung, and decided to give the Perrin PPT a chance. I am glad I did as it is as well built a folder as I've seen. I'll be buying some more Spyderco's that are beginning to appeal to me; Gayle Bradley, and ti Military. While there are some Spyderco's that just don't appeal to me, I'm not going to condemn the whole lineup, not when there are as well built knives coming from Spyderco, as any manufacturer out there!:)

Without a doubt cutter, I can't wait to put some wear and tear on this bad boy! I'm looking at the spyderco bushcraft in g10 now... anyone have any experience with it?

Ha! Congratulations. When I saw the title, I was prepared to say "have you ever used one?". Spyderco's aren't made to look good (although I think they are the best looking knives out there, eye of the beholder I guess), they are made to work.

BTW, the "bloated price point" thing makes me shake my head...most other companies, you pay $40-50 and get something with Aus 8 or 420hc, not VG-10 or S30V that spyderco uses. And for 70-120, many companies use 154cm and zytel or aluminum, where as with a spyderco you can get ZDP-189, S30V, CPM-M4, colored G-10, carbon fiber etc. Not to mention the amazing designs and immaculate fit and finish.

I'd be willing to bet that Spyderco's profit margins are much smaller than just about any knife company out there--that's one main reason I love them. World class materials and craftmanship, and it doesn't cost $350+

I'm glad you saw the light. Hope you come back for more--I started buying them last spring, and I just passed 30 Spyderco's.
