I like stainless steel and single edged knives. The knife should cost less than $200. On one end of the price range I am considering a Buck Pathfinder for $45, On the other a Boker AF EDC, street price right at $200. What else should I be looking at? Thanks in advance for the replies.

I've never used one, so I can't make a real recommendation, but if you're stuck on stainless Fallkniven might be a good starting point. I'm sure folks who have them will chime in.

But unless you're in a very wet envoronment, I'd urge you to consider non-stainless, i.e. "carbon" steel options. In that case I'd recommend the Swamp Rat RMD. You would also want to consider ESEE and Becker knives.

Oops, forgot to mention that the knife will be carried IWB in a custom kydex sheath.

The Fallkniven knives look good, but "tacky" handles print under a t-shirt.

Thanks for the replies. The Esse just doesn't ring my bell. Other suggestions please?

Those Entrek knives look great. The Mini T and the Survivor look like they would work well for my intended role. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Still doesn't tell me what you want to do with it. Different knives are designed to do different things. You camping? using it for self-defense? field dressing moose? whittling? slicing sushi? deaminating commies? cleaning trout? killing zombies?.....

Hi Marcinek, The knife will be used to field dress zombie trout. I like to cut the fish down with ones and twos, then get in close for the finishing poke. Around here, nobody wears a moose, whittler, sushi or trout knife iwb.

Zombie trout are delicious. Wrap some bacon around 'em, grill 'em, splash of lemon...nom nom.

Seriously though, maybe we could come up with something perfect for you, if we knew what you wanted to do with the knife. There's a lot of 5-6 inch knives out there....

I am looking to down grade my equipment to a single fixed blade carried strong side iwb. The knife will only be drawn in defense(and daily practice). I have many 3-4" fixed blades. and more than a couple of 7" blades. But I am looking for the most knife I can comfortably carry daily bases, with a minimum of fuss(anything over 6" will not work for me).

Hmmm...5-6 inches and self-defense-y. Challenging. My first thought was a Columbia River Hissatsu, but thsat comes in at around 6.6 inches....

Have you looked at TOPS, Bark River Bravo 2, SOG and Cold Steel have lots of knives to choose from.
It's hard to pick a knife for another person.
What kind of handle to you prefer?
Single, or double edge?
Leather or Kydex, or plastic?

Duh on me. The choice was obvious.

Bark River STS-5. Pure fighter, 5.5 inch blade.
