What's Been Your Experience With Grip Tape Inserts?

What's been your experience with grip tape inserts on high end knives?

I've always stayed away from grip tape on the higher end knives, as grip tape seems like it is something that will start to peel off, and then what?

For instance, let's take the Heretic Colossus. A knife that runs $450 to $500 new with grip tape on it. If it had stippling on the aluminum (like you see on some guns) in place of the grip tape, I would buy one. But spending $500 on a knife with something that seems like it will peel off from sweat, etc. during normal use is hard to swallow. Does Heretic (or any manufacturer using grip tape on high end knives) offer extra grip tape inserts for sale to replace their grip tape inserts that are starting to come loose? I guess you could buy a sheet of grip tape and cut out your own replacements, but some of the patterns would be hard to reproduce, and then you would have funky looking grip tape inserts...lol

Just curious what the communities' general experience has been with grip tape on high end knives.

Always shied away from it for the same reasons, everything else Ive had with grip tape it eventually gets ratty round the edges
