I'm a couple hundred miles from home with a broke down truck. Having some wheel bearing troubles and have been here since midnite. Just got a tow a bit over an hour ago and they are working on getting it fixed right now. Meanwhile, my KFU Hunter is very likely sitting in my mailbox and is probably cold and lonesome. Poor thing just wants to spend some time with its new owner and friends.

I should add that I'm bored out of my mind and tired as heck and havent been able to nap. Ok, I'm done whining now.

I used to visit ND a lot to see my grandparents. I'm imagining you stuck in a little town that consists of a feed mill, diner, and a gas station/repair shop.

Just got into work...time to make sure the sheeple aren't messing up my network.

Working. Feeling naked without my wide blade edc. I'm not allowed to carry at work. So I have a bk14 around my neck and a #75 trapper next to my wallet :D what they don't know won't hurt em

Lol, theres plenty of towns like the one you described around here, but you missed the bar in part of your description. Luckily I'm in Fargo right now and the tow truck driver convinced the international dealership to get the truck in for me right away. If it hadnt have been for hom I would be sitting at another shop waiting until this afternoon to get the truck fixed.

I know how you feel Clich. I'm technically not supposed to have one either, but noone cares even when I use it in front of them. Right now I have a Spyderco Gayle Bradley and a Leatherman juice in my pocket. In my pack in the truck theres a sak, rat 1, and my Backwoods bushcrafter.

My company has a "no weapons" policy", too, but I've been exempted from the company policy. My boss knew I was a ccw permit holder and he and the other administrators actually asked me if I wouldn't mind carrying while at work. It makes like much easier, now, not leaving stuff in my car when I get here!

Right now I have a Leek, BK14, and CZ75B Compact on me. The knives are just different tools for different jobs. I suppose the CZ is, as well, but it's a tool I'd prefer to never use for it's intended purpose.

Have you ever been through Carrington, ND, wildcat? That's the town I visited a few times a year.

Its a pity, but my Kahr does stay in my vehicle when I get to work. I've spent some time in Carrington too. Its actually about an hour south of where I live. I had a friend that worked for the why dept there and used to go down there and party on the weekends.

Sweet I'm waiting for a Cz 75b full size. Stupid presidents day screwed everything up. I hope it will be here late this week. The extra mags and holster I got have already showed up. So I have 3 spare mags loaded up and a holster on my belt. If something happens ill just throw the rounds at the bad guy. Then tell him he better run cuz the next one is coming alot faster. Lol jk

Argh, just got told that the wheel bearing is welded to the spindle and the hub is shot too. They don't figure that anyone in town will have the spindle or hub. Looks like I'm stuck here, or I need to find a ride home somehow. The upside is that the wheel didnt come off while I was driving down the icy interstate last night and I'm not typing this from a hospital bed.

Geez, I think the next time I even remotely feel like going back on the road, I'll read your post AC. I spent 4 days in Iowa City IA once waiting on a drive shaft from a Dodge dealer in Chicago. The afternoon it happened, they were forecasting 10" of snow later that night. At the time it was raining and someone on the CB asked what the forecast looked like and I replied "They're calling for 10" of snow tonight, but I'll be long gone out of here by then". It wasn't 5 miles later when the drive shaft flew off and I was holed up in IC in a Motel 8. When will I ever learn to keep my trap shut!

that sucks! I just got home from work. I see there are some fellow CZ owners on here. I have owned just about every model they make iver the years except for the 97. Best gun for the money IMO. I'm fortunate to know a very good Smith in my area so he worked mine over.

ac700wildcat,

I feel your pain! I drove cross-country for 14 years...mostly permit loads: high, wide, long & heavy, on multiple axles.
Hauled a Stealth jet engine once (Nellis AFB to Davis-Monthan AFB; escorted front & back by men in nice suits! No speed limits, and fly on PAST the scales), but the Feds tarped it themselves, and I never got to see it. Hauled a blown, leaking one back...same scenario.
Then did a stint of explosives hauling.
And a stint of radioactive hauling.
Lucky to be here; lotsa 'close calls'!

And some lengthy breakdowns.

How about a consolation prize?
You needed some .45 brass....if you'll pay the shipping on a $11 USPS flat-rate Priority box, I'll fill it with once fired range brass, .45 mixed headstamp....has some .40 & 9mm in the bags, too. And a few pieces I have yet to identify.

Stay warm, and good luck.

All in all it wasn't a horrible day, just long and tiring. I ended up getting a few hours of sleep and having to run again last night in a rental truck. That was a bit of an adventure too, but I made it back this morning and fell asleep for a few more hours and now I can't sleep. :thumbdn: Just took a melatonin so I can get my butt back to bed soon.

Gnarly, I remember you telling me that you did some oversized loads when we were chatting about the xmas gift swap. I did forget that you said that you had some .45 brass tho. I'll take you up on that offer and send you a PM in a few mins. I'm planning a new 1911 soon so having some ammo ready to go would be a good idea. I just have to decide if I'm to go with a Kimber Stainless II or a Springfield Loaded SS. Decisions decisions.......

Mudbug, something like that always happens when you really don't want it to. The truck I was driving was our spare truck which means our regular truck is down too. Should have the spare back on Friday and the regular truck is being looked at today. I'm pretty sure it needs a head gasket, so it might be a week or two before we get that one back. The boss is talking about a Freightliner that he is going to look at next week, so maybe I'll get to drive something a bit different soon.

Decided to revive this thread instead of starting a new one. Sooo...it's 11:30 and I've had a cigar and I'm thinking
about another coffee cup of wiskey. What's everyone else up to?

Sittin behind a post office, waiting to back into my dock in a half hour. About three more hours of driving and five hours of work left and I'll be heading home for the day.

ac700wc, I feel for you. I tried the truck driving thing. Not for me. Although I still have my class B license.
Give me a metal cutting machine anyday.

The waiting for my door was kinda my fault for leaving early tonight. It snowed yesterday and the road report said that there was a lot of ice, so I figured I'd give myself some extra time. It turned out that there were only a few spots that I had to slow down a little. Trucking isn't for everyone thats for sure. I really like it and it will probably be what I do in one form or another for a long time.
