Seriously, what gives?

This is a knife forum, yet we get threads questioning why we carry knives.
Other times, people start in as to why we shouldn't carry carry a specific type of knife.
Oh yeah, and you better hide your knife usage like using a cutting implement is equivalent to spreading V.D.
Then there are the people who don't understand why on a forum of knife enthusiasts some might not think buying the cheapest thing resembling a knife is a totally awesome idea.

Can't buy guns next best thing is knives, funny thing is seems like the newer crowd showin' up here these days shouldn't be allowed to buy either.

Just wanted to add, that this is not pointed towards all the new blood, just some. ;)

And I love that image of yours that just melts into a puddle. I'm not enuf of a geek to do that stuff. Old doesn't always make ya good.

And...yeah, I'd like to buy guns, but knives are (usually) cheaper.

its a discussion forum for knives, so anything about knives is fair game.
you making this thread is the same thing you are posting about ...no?
 
I think a lot of it is reactionary. People are seeing the hell gun rights are getting right now and as a result are trying to be "reasonable." Also, I can't deny that newer knife enthusiasts do tend to be a little uneducated on certain attitudes so sometimes it's just a culture shock, especially depending on how they and others around them view knives.

As for the part about cheap crap, I'll be totally honest I was a new knife collector just a few short years ago, I bought more than my fair share of crap and thought it was totally awesome. Not everyone takes well to being told their awesome stuff is crap though!

I do agree with stabman on the cheap knife thing.
It takes a special kind of person to come to a knife forum and slam the best knife makers in the world for being too expensive, as if they are entitled to something for nothing.
