What's going to be the next HUGE Emerson Production Folder?

Ahhh...Man oh Man, what could be more of a hit than the Commander? That's a task right there, to beat that knife. I think it is one of the finest folders ever produced. That goes without saying, but there, I said it anyway. :D

So, in the Grand Tradition of stirring the pot of ideas and support, like with a Production Fixed Blade in the Emerson Tradition, here goes.

We've talked about this before in Semi-Private. Maybe in various threads.

But what about a CQC-8 with a Wave? Chisel Ground, flat on one side the way God intended. Good old Black G-10 and a real Satin Finish on the blade and Black-Ti on others? That's right, a Waved Banana...

What say you, Suspects?

When can I have one? I also think that the mini-Commander will go big time.

Regards,

Ed

Don, That would sure be a hit, I have no doubt that one day it will be a reality, but timing is everything. I'm sure that Mr. Emerson has some stuff up his sleeve that will blow our socfk's off :D

Right on Don, a waved 8 would ROCK!
I'd like to see a waved I&I tanto too, can't have too many tanto bladed waved folders :)

I like the cutting properties of chiselground blades but i fail miserably in sharpening'em :(
Si i'd prefer to have a regular ground blade, or maybe Mr. Emerson would give me a personal crash course? ;)
(yes, i have looked at the website, i'm just moronic...)

Personally, I'd go for a production CQC9, how about that one !

Or, think of this one. As Ernie and the Strider guys are teaming up for the Seminar in October, how about a collaboration on a custom folding knife !

If they ever do, I spoke up first and my names first on the list, OK ! :D

I would love to see a production CQC8. Better than that, I would love for all the available models to be offered with a real satin finish.

Short of the real deal custom, a waved, production 8 is pretty much my dream knife. :D

Hey guys,

Let's not whip ourselves in to a lather. :D

I personally would love to see a production CQC8, especially a waved model. I even brought it up to Ernie and Mary Friday at the Guild show. (I believe Joel was standing there when I did)

Before I get to the answer, let me say that I asked Ernie once if we would ever see a production CQC6 (some had asked here on the forums, so I asked). The answer, and I paraphrase, was "No, no way, not ever".

With that in mind, I broached the subject of "Will we ever see a Production CQC8?" Then I quickly added "WITH A WAVE!". He chuckled "With a wave . . . ". I added "A waved Production Eight would be perfect, but I'd settle for a regular Production Eight at first." He thought about it for a few seconds and said something like "Mmmmm, not at this point . . . we have too much going on and too many things happening in the near future".

That is a much more optimistic answer then "No, no way, not ever". Who knows . . . . maybe one day.

John,

If the man is too busy to produce a waved 8, but has great things planned, does this mean that the waved Rhino is comming soon?!? :D

Regards,

Ed

BTW did you get an real hints?

My stomach turned when I read that(even though I had a feeling that was going to be his answer.) The 6 is one of my dream knives. Guess I'll start saving for a custom.

Ed,

Nope, no idea.

Raye and Samhell,

The CQC6 is the "Flagship" of the Custom Emersons, it's the one everyone knows. It wouldn't be right to make a production Six. Some things should be sacred.

Well, what might be on the stove cooking for the future? Heh...

I've long wanted the CQC-8 and CQC-9 to be Production items. My Wife loves those hook blades and I would love for her to have one.

If you want to talk about evil, dirty, mean and nasty in a Self-defense Tool, that #9 is smoking. Anti-Grappling? No problem.

I have to be honest [Hollister is going to cry like a baby when he reads this :D ]...

If a Waved 8 and a #9 "as is" came out, I would put the 8 in my right pocket and the 9 in my left and would probably retire the Commander(s).

I'd like to see the "Sebenza Slayer", the frame lock Commander or better yet, a frame lock ES-1M.

Quick, someone get me a defib, Hollisters gone into arrest ! :D

I have been whining about a production 8 since EKI came on line. A waved 8 would easily replace my current EDCs. Other than that, to Don's original question, the mini Commander should be the "next big thing". When it finally goes into distribution, this should be at/near the top of my EDC rotation until the fabled production "8" shows up.

WHAT!?

Actually . . . let me say that if EKI comes out with a production CQC8, full sized mind you (Four inch blade), waved (of course), I'll retire my carry Commanders.

(OK, not retire, but carried less often)
