Found a few books glossy hard back, Perfect! Pictures! Good for All children& adults,
The Point is what I found...
USA SURVIVAL MANUAL
USA SURVIVAL PACK
The Handy Campfire Box
The Handy Compass Box
The Handy Bird Calls
All for Children!!!
This is a major Liberal strong hold area in NYC.

I think you have a strong view of what 'liberal' is... perhaps one that is a bit narrow?

NYC is a liberal strong hold. So many taking, so few paying sort of thing.

My take on the OP was that it was amazing for him to find books like these in a liberal stronghold.

It is not that unusual a discovery though. My fair City, another ultra liberal/progressive stronghold, is replete with outdoor shops, gun stores, and book stores that cater to all tastes.

Hey Akabu, thanks for posting this. I will check out my local borders as well. I am sure they would make great stocking stuffers for my daughter!

Op hit the nail on the head as far as N.Y. is concerned. The political correctness they use to cover up the fact of the matter is sickening.

I don't think it is that surprising that Borders has those books in stock. None of those titles are pushing an agenda. Now go look in the poly sci or political humor section and do a comparison. That is when Borders will show its true colors.

A friend of mine wants to get some dual language books for her daughter. She has a great love of camping and exotic locales, I will let her know. Thanks.

the handy campfire box, neat!

I live in GA. In public schools here they teach gun safety, knife usage, wild meat aquisition, and how to beat up liberals. For field trips in Liberal.Asswhippin'.101 they take us down to the trendy side of Atlanta and turn us loose with wool socks full of nuts and bolts. Most people ace that class. Those who don't are beaten and banished.

no offense mate, but you almost have to live here in the US, to understand the dynamics involved.

None Taken!

I guess I'm just scratching my head - Melbourne is the 'liberal' strong hold of Australia in many ways. Borders have all sorts of books here too.

I'm a liberal and I like survival guns and outdoor stuff. 2 of my friends are professional liberal activists and both likes to hunt and ones has a sawmill.

I think that's a common misconception though.

This is another common misconception:

NYC is a liberal strong hold. So many taking, so few paying sort of thing.

I'm sorry to go on about this but it's such a common statement it needs to be corrected.

States Receiving Least in Federal Spending Per Dollar of Federal Taxes Paid:

1. New Jersey ($0.62)
2. Connecticut ($0.64)
3. New Hampshire ($0.68)
4. Nevada ($0.73)
5. Illinois ($0.77)
6. Minnesota ($0.77)
7. Colorado ($0.79)
8. Massachusetts ($0.79)
9. California ($0.81)
10. New York ($0.81)

The report shows that of the 32 states (and the District of Columbia) that are "winners" -- receiving more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes -- 76% are Red States that voted for George Bush in 2000. Indeed, 17 of the 20 (85%) states receiving the most federal spending per dollar of federal taxes paid are Red States.

Sorry for the interruption resuming regular programming;)

Umm, does it really matter who has the most liberals?? The OP mentioned a couple of books that he found in a book store that would be great for kids. He was shocked he was able to find one in "NYC, A major liberal strong hold" which it is. He never said it was the most liberal, so lets not turn this thread into something it's not. If you want to thank Akabu for mentioning that these books can be found in a Borders then thank him, but lets leave the liberal pissing match alone..

It is and I was just jesting...a few of my good friends in college (PNW) were tree-hugging liberal activists:eek:; our get togethers were more focused on our common enjoyment of the outdoors rather than politics (although that occured after a few drinks:D).

Diversity is always a good thing, especially when you have some common ground which most of us share with our love of outdoor activities. It's good to see such books in NYC as I know there are many there due to family or jobs, but they still love getting outdoors when they can.

My apologies for steering this off topic but the OP points out a good thing...you can find some gold nuggets in unlikely places:thumbup:
