I am curious as to what everyone has packed in their BOB. What items and what you can use them for. I am rethinking my bob and am hoping to get ideas from what everone else has packed. Also a good exercise for the rest of you to make sure everything is still packed and ready to go. I will start with mine. I am a light weight backpacker so most of my bob gear is also backpacking gear.
Pack: Gregory G pack, aprox 3500 cubic inch, internal frame, 2lbs
shelter: Mil poncho, unbuttons into a 88x64"tarp,1lb, space blanket
-also have lightweight 2 person tent, undecided because it take up
too much space
Sleeping: Therm-a-Rest 3/4 ultralight pad 1lb, and Kelty lightyear 25degree
down sleeping bag with water proof shell 2lb
Rair gear: Marmot Preclip Jacket and pants, 10 and 6 oz, and Poncho
Water: 2 liter hydration system, and 2 nalgene bottles, Polar Pure water
treatment, and Pur filter(befor Kadyan bought them)
Cooking: MSR Dragonfly stove 14 oz (it will burn any liquid fuel), 20oz of
fuel in fuel bottle, Snow Peak cooking pot with lid 8oz, lighter and
matches
Personal items: tooth brush/paste, deodorant, chap stick, wet napkins, tp,
Bug spray, bandana, sun screen
Safety: M95 gas mask,3 Orion airal flares
Tools: RAT-7 with survival kit in sheath, Gerber hatchet 1lb, Tool logic Fire
pocket knife
Light: Princton Tech Hybrid head lamp, led and xeon bulbs, spare batteries
and a infinity led (runs 100 hrs on one AA)
First Aid Kit: I wont go into details
Survival Kit: Dont worry I think its complete
Clothes: Few changes of clothes, and sun hat.
Food: Freeze dried food, power bars, gatorade mix
Protection: Mossberg 590, and Sig P220 with 8 spare mags(the guns would
not be in the backpack), xtra ammo for both, also thinking of
packing my Springfield survival rifle its a .22hornet on top and
.410 on bottom, but not sure if it will get packed
Other: important docs/papers, several hundred in cash, xtra Id. compass, few hundred feet of para chute cord,

I think thats it, I allways have my hiking boots on(just like them) and always wear pants, and always have my psk on my belt and pocket knife in pocket. Usually have cell phone. Well who is next? And if I am forgetting something please let me know.

No one else sharing......... I guess not everyone has their BOB ready???

Wade you mentioned your survival kit in your RAT-7 sheath, just a couple questions...

i recently picked one up with standard cordura sheath, assume yours is same?
i have put a fire kit in my pouch, not a lot of room in those pouches...

what did you put in yours and how did you pack it? i've been thinking about using a Mini M&M tube for gear to put into it, tight fitting lid, bright colors and easily accessible in pouch.

if ya have any pics you can post would be appreciated. thanks for any info and tips...

Your BOB is okay. I generally plan on use of a vehicle, so weight is not as important at least initially. A pack is part of the BOB, but most things are packed in rubbermaid bins which are useful for many purposes. I would suggest extra cell phone battery (charged). You might add some parachute cord.

I think this subject was done on a previous thread but since it's been awhile, it's always interesting to see what's in the bag and gives a chance to scan the inventory for improvements.

I started a layered system after asking a question on this forum and it makes good sense to me. Here's mine:

On my person:

1. Buck SBMF folder
2. B/M Mini Skirmish
3. Leatherman Micra
4. ID and cell phone
5. Varied amounts of cash

At work:

Gallon zip lock bag containing:

1.FAK
2. Datrex water pouches
3. AA Maglite converted to LED
4. Power bars
5. Light sticks
6. Canvas work gloves
7. Ear loop surgical masks and 1 pr. latex gloves
8. Emergency and out of town contact numbers
9. Some Advil and Tylenol

Small fanny pack: this contains very minimal but highly portable items. This is in my center console in my vehicle.

1. Altoid PSK with basic FAK, Leatherman Micra, 25' nylon surveyor's string, small yellow Bic lighter, 5 bucks, a spare AAA battery, 5 rds. 38 Spl +P
This is held secure with about 5-6 Ranger bands
2. Taurus M85 with boot grips/IWB holster
3. Larry Ramey titanium necker
4. AAA LED flashlight

This is supplemented by a larger sling pack that is in my car:

1. Silva compass
2. EZE-Lap diamond hone and buckskin strop
3. Xenon flashlight and spare batts
4. Cold Steel Kobun Tanto
5. Newt Livesay Woo necker
6. 2 - 1 pint bottles H2O
7. 1 plastic drop cover
8. Space Blanket
9. Ranger RD7 flat ground fixed blade w/ Leatherman Kick in spare pouch
10. Customized Cold Steel Trail Hawk for chopping, bashing, prying
11. Small Pentax binocs
12. Basic FAK (redundancy of certain items is good)
13. 2 Nature Valley Granola Bars 2 Clif Bars
14. 10 bucks in quarters
15. 50' paracord

Then a large plasic tub in my vehicle for the rest:

1. Large FAK with OTC medicines
2. extra socks
3. Personal hygiene
4. Small tarp and tube tent
5. Additional MRE entrees
6. Large flashlight and batts
7. Duct tape/wire
8. Large trash bags for multiple uses
9. work gloves
10. 1 box surgical ear loop masks
11. Latex gloves
12. hand sanitizer/disinfectant wipes
13. 1 gal water
14. small AM-FM radio
15. Nylon marine rope
16. comfortable work boots

Finally also in vehicle:

1. Heavy tools; sledge, small axe and prybar
2. tool box
3. blankets
4. sleeping bag
5. Med. ALICE with extra warm clothing, water and food to be carried by another family member if present.

Don't forget chains and a shovel for winter.

deserthawk,
I got one of the Spec-Ops knife sheaths for it. Its the 'survival' sheath, the gear pocket is much larger with a zipper and stretch material. Great investment, easliy holds a altoids tin or hard glasses case. You can get them through birgade at www.actiongear.com for about $50. If you want I can email you some picts of it. Hope that this helps
