Okay, here's the challenge: what kind of PSK can you build around a one liter Nalgene container? Extra points for mulitple use items and lowest weights. The winner will get a Giant brand knock-off of an SAK Classic with a built in red LED, supplied by me. Votes will be by mob rule on this forum :)

The competition will end at midnight June 22 and the final selection made by midnight June 23.

Gentlemen. start your engines!

2 questions:

1. Is one liter equal to 32 ounces?
2. Does it have to exist? (the kit and contents)

Seems the best way is to actually have the Quart Nalgene and fit contents into it to see how it would work.

So.........whatcha gonna put all that stuff in, when you take it out and fill the nalgene with water?;)

Are we restricted to ONLY those things that fit in the Nalgene? Would something like a cup that slips over the bottom of the Nalgene be out?

Ok, got to thinking about this, and I know everyone will come up with the usuals. Has anyone put a piece of mylar inside the perimeter? About 6 inches wide, rolled, would take up almost no space, yet provide a very real signal mirror if you are lost. Inert, lightweight, highly reflective.

1. One liter = 33.8140226 US fluid ounces.

2. Yes, it has to exist and it needs to fit in the Nalgene. Slip-on pots will be allowed-- only because it's part of my plan :D Paracord wraps will also be allowed.

Man, I just filled mine every morning with water from the tap (well water), and that was it. Cut down on about two bottles from what I'm using every day at work of the bottled Sams Choice stuff.

Cool ideas, I'm going to have to store some purifier tablets in my truck looking at these.

You might check on temperature recommendations for storing the tablets-- it's gets pretty hot in a closed truck cab. You definately want some handy.

That is way cool. I've been looking for a better carrier for my Nalgene. Spendy, but looks worth it.

Oh don't worry about getting your money's worth this is probably the best pouch I've ever used. I own 3. Two for M-16 magazines (holds 4, 5 if I go crazy and start pushing like a nut)and one for the nalgene kit. The external MOLLE gives a lot of options. I have two pistol magazine pockets on one (large folder and a multitool) and a Spec-ops brand light sheath on the other. AND its made in the USA.

I keep a Nalgene kit at work, but my contents are in a spreadsheet on another partition of my hard drive - I'll have to re-boot to fully answer this question...

I double bag and stuff 2 gallon sized plastic bags (twist tie, not zip lock) into my Nalgene bottle first, then everything goes into that. If I had to use the kit, I just pull the bags out, and I have an empty bottle ready to be filled with water.
