I like stuff, equipment junky. I carry a Altoids kit whenever I venture off the path, a more intensive kit for day hikes, in a either Maxpedition jumbo Versapak, or Water Bottle Kit, a BOB for a long walk home. The vehicle kit has recovery straps, tire plugs, u-joints, even a welder, bridging ladders, also food, water purifier, tarp stove, air tools, ad nauseum. I have useful stuff strewn all around me all the time.
But for Mall-survival, roaming the house, stores, mall, backyard, I am interested in what folks really carry every day , from time you open your eye balls, till the time you nod off in the evening? Looking in your pockets or on the lanyard around your neck, what do you have to work with.
This is my essentials kit, I carry everywhere, everyday. If I am in the loo reading, and the lights go out, a tornado hits, earthquake levels the building, or aliens abduct me, zombies attack, these are the tools I will have to use to get by.
It fits in a small pouch, in my front pocket, nothing rattles, no protruding edges . ( The book is not part of the kit................... that's what I was reading when the lights went out and i was abducted if you must know)
In the pouch is a SAK, peanut lighter, jump drive, whistle, tick pliers, sharpie, photon, lip balm, a misch metal rod and a compass.
This coupled with a RAT Izula hanging aroung my neck, is the extent of my minimalistic kit.
Post up what you carry, I am interested in tailoring this kit a little more.
Cheers,
Crunchtyme
