What's it worth?

I recently saw a thread where somebody was selling a Benchmade 806 D2 and I'm sure the price was more than I paid for mine new. Now, I have no problem with this at all but it made me wonder if mine has actually increased in price. Is this possible?

I've never bought knives with the thought that they might actually increase in value but it would certainly be a pleasant surprise if they did. Not only that I could now tell my wife, somewhat truthfully, that all these knife purchases are actually a wise thing to do ......... :)

Then again, I could be fooling myself, I don't actually remember how much I paid for mine, just a vague feeling.

The market value of the 806D2 has indeed gone up. In fact, you can occasionally spot them going for pretty absurdly high prices. So if yours is still in good condition, it's likely you could sell it today for a good amount more than you originally paid for it. This is not necessarily true for all knives, though. Take the 914FS, for example; they're not often seen on the market, and even when they are, they tend to go for MAYBE the same as they were originally bought for. Great knife, though. And speaking of the 806, I wish I had an 805 TSEK, satin plain edge...

elmora, I know where one of those is. Email me and I'll give you the info, be sure you post back here that you emailed me. It is not an individual but rather a knife shop. They actually have two, one plain, one serrated. Both are nib and marked down to around $82.00 or so. I'll give you a phone number as I think they will ship out. Just let me know if interested.

The 806s were discontinued and that drove the price up IIRC. I just picked up another Manix for over what I would usually pay for the same reason.

Well, that's certainly good news. Mine is still LNIB, never been used except to slice up a couple of bits of light cardboard to see how sharp it was. I think I'll leave it in the cupboard and see how things go.

Hey F3X, I've emailed you the information on the 805's. Let us know if you score one!:D

Just reread my original post and it looks like the post could be interpeted to mean I know where an 806 is. I meant to say that the two BM's I know of are 805's.

Sorry for any confusion.:confused::)
