So whats legal for you, around here anything goes as long as its not a switchblade, there are no restrictions,i've carried my 110 everywhere, used it in restuarants, etc, without so much as a odd look.Today i used a full size 880 strider in the supermarket to cut some straps on a box ,nobody even noticed it.LOL.During hunting season,i carry my 119 a lot into the liquor store, grocery stores, public places, still not so much as a word out of anyone,LOL:thumbup:

I don't know exactly what the local laws are, and I recently asked a local cop who laughed and said "I'll have to look that up". People here carry what they want to and nothing is made of it unless they are doing something wrong with it. I.E. even if it is illegal, it's not enforced unless you're committing a crime with it.

Right where I am, anything but autos, daggers, dirks etc the usual things. We can carry concealed if we want also. But there is a gray area, the laws state that if you have intent to do harm you cant carry anything. Also only anything over 3.5" can be considered a deadly weapon. I try to stay under 3.5" just so I dont get any heat if Im pulled over or anything. I think Illinois as a state is pretty open to just about anything other than autos. Now I know Chicago doesnt allow anything over 2.5" and there are some other towns/counties that have similar laws. It all depends who you ask, it seems here.

I live in Montana and have a concealed weapons permit, pretty sure i can carry any knife anywhere. i cant carry my pistol where alcahol is sold in a building, federal buildings, other than that i carry most places, knife and pistol. I think virginia has the best laws for carrying guns. you dont even have to have a permit and you can carry them anywhere. correct me if i am wrong.

On carrying guns, I thought that Virginia tightened some restrictions after the Virginia Tech incident.

In Germany:

Allowed are fixed knives with a blade shorter than 5 inch and two hand opened
folding knives knives. It doesn't matter whether it has a lock or not.

Forbidden to carry are one hand opener with a lock and lager knives and
weapons like daggers. The Exception: you have a legal reason to carry such a knife,
for example you cultivate traditions like wearing traditional costumes that requires a knife

Completely forbidden are balisons, fist knives and knives (weapons like a dagger)
which looks like an other thing, for example walking cane, ballpen and so on.

Best, Haebbie

Dont really know, rumor is under 4" concealed but that may be hearsay.

I walked into the courthouse in Pittsburgh to pick up and extra anterless license. I wasnt going near a court room so I didnt think I had to go through any metal detectors or checkpoints. It was after 911 and Columbine...I was wrong:o I emptied my pockets for the city cops working the check and pulled out my 100th anny 110.:D You would have thought I pulled out a tommy gun:eek: They stepped back and put thier hands on their holsters:confused: I said, its just my pocket knife. They eased up and firmly told me never to bring a weapon that sized in there again. I was afraid when I came back, it would have somehow got misplaced. I got it back though.:) I dont get it, it's just a pocket knife, albeit a good sized one, but legal.

Although each town can have local ordinances (so you never know) the general feeling around here is that there's not a problem until the knife is big enough to scare somebody enough that they call the cops. If that happens you could get talked to and told to get rid of it or get out or whatever. If you argue you'd probably get charged with disturbance or failing to cooperate.

I've never heard of a problem myself......but I rarely see a fixed-blade being carried openly in public, either. The exception to that is camping or canoeing and there you will see some fixed-blades openly carried and if you're in an area where a lot of that is done you won't be given a second look, even in town.

Government buildings and schools are highly questionable and better avoided even if the knife is not easily seen.

Where I live in E. WA and N. ID there are no state or county restrictions on knife carry. Spokane and Spokane Valley do not have any restrictions other than we cant carry knives into schools and certain govt buildings like the city hall and courthouse. The local VA medical center has a no weapons policy that includes knives. I dont think Coeur D'Alene has anything more restrictive than Spokane. I do know Seattle has some blade length (under 3") and type (double edge) restrictions. I have never been stopped or questioned by local LE about carrying any of my Emerson, Spyderco, Strider, or Buck folding or neck knives but I'm pretty carefull and dont do stupid stuff to bring attention to myself.

Here in North Carolina it's 4" or less, but I don't really want to get too close to that. Cops around here can arrest you for whatever they want and worry about the technicalities later. 3.25" is a limit I set for myself after gazing upon a Benchmade 530, but that was a long time ago. 3" is probably smarter. I can't fathom a situation in which I'd need 4", anyway.

Here in the good/bad old blue state:eek: of Claifornia we have a restriction on just about everything. We have restrictions on restrictions. But the laws her don't have a size limit, as long as its visable. Having a pocket knife or something concealed is ok too. The only knives that are illegal are gravity knives, swichblades, double edged knives, butterfly knives. Some might ask what the hell is a gravity knife. It is any knife that can open utilizing gravity. Flicking out that loose bladed 110, opening your well broken in folders with a whip of the wrist is illegal. I've seen people get away with neck knives because they wern't double edged. It all depends on what you are doing to get noticed and who ( whick Cop) you piss off.

In NM ours is the same as what Colt stated, not in schools, courthouse some Govt. bldg..
Everywhere else most anything is fine . I've seen bikers walk into the grocery store wearing a 119 . I see mostly 110's, 112's and 317's and pocket clips . The main thing is don't call attention to yourself as if the Law enforcement percieve a threat toward other law abiding citizens they will arrest you . DM

Where I live, "ordinary pocket knives" and hunting knives are expressly excluded from the definition of a deadly weapon. This means that you can carry an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife almost anywhere, except courtrooms, schools, etc.

With a concealed deadly weapons license, one can carry any knife without limitation, except for the few excluded places like courtrooms, etc.

Honestly, I am very thankful to be living in a free state where I don't have to put up with the horse hockey that some of you guys live with.

In New Mexico you can carry anything as long as it's not a switch blade or dagger. You can open carry a hand gun as long as it can be seen. You can conceal carry if you get a permit.

In this messed up day and time, it probably isn't good to thumbstud one open in public. Gently opening one two handed draws less attention.

I have a CCW and can carry a handgun anywhere except gov. buildings, courts, etc,,,,,, folders must be less than 4" and fixed blades only while actually hunting or fishing.

A special permit is required for automatic blades and is normally restricted to handicapped.

FK
