Hey everyone! Well, I did over 4000 posts in 3.5 years and about 4 in the past 7 months. Been dealing with some financial and work related issues, and figured I should stay focused on solving them rather than looking at and talking about knives.

Everything is still up in the air, but I miss this place and wanted to check in. Joe (Aardvark), Kismet and Yvsa have been kindly emailing me from time to time, and Steve checked in as well, which I appreciate.

Just got in a kind of state where I didn't (or couldn't) think about anything but my own situation, if that makes any sense.

The good news is that from Aug. 1 of last year until Nov. 1 I managed to lose 40 pounds, mostly by exercising an hour + a day. The bad news is that I haven't lost anything since! Damn Thanksgiving and Christmas killed it, but I hope to get the last 30 off soon.

Only knife I've been able to snag was one of the HI Crescent Moon's, and that was thanks to Joe's eagle eye and consideration. What a beautiful
blade. It makes a nice match to the Tora of the same name, and is exactly what I would expect from HI, bigger and thicker. ;)

Still not working yet, which is a killer, but think things are starting to break with the new year, and please shoot some smoke my way when you can.

I'll just hang around here a while and try to remember what these curvy sharp things are everybody's talking about. :D

P.S. and what's this? DannyInTexas? :eek::eek:

Keep on keepin on.

Welcome back, Norm:) It's good to see you posting again. Dust off your barstool and belly up, friend:)

I've added some HI swords. :p

Business as usual...

Mike

Nice stuff Mike! I've got #'s 1, 4 and 5 there, but no Dukti ever made it my way, although I've come across a couple manjushri's. And although I have a Himalayan sword (#3 down) it does not have the older style handle yours has. Very unique.

Did you make the rack?

Thanks for sharing.

Norm

Hm, the rack is just 2x4's.

What's new... picked up another Japanese Arisaka Type 38 in 6.5mmx50.

Kind of a dog but the price was right, mum's fine, and Tojo isn't making any more of them. :D

What's new?

I've only bought 1 knife since blade show.

I'm currently looking at another job. I'm burnt out working where I'm at. The morale/attitudes there sucks. Good news is the job prospect looks promising.
wish me luck guys.

Svashtar, focusing on your problems and how to deal with them is great...but I don't think it's good to focus on them excluding the things that bring you joy in your life.
There must be a balance.

Almost forgot. Congrats on the weightloss!

Prayers for peace in your life from the west coast.

Nice hearing from you Norm!

The smoke you need, you get bro!

Wow. That's really great!!

Congrats on the weight loss. I could stand to lose about 30 (or maybe even a bit more) myself. Good luck and best wishes in 2008.

Thank you all! Great to see many of the same guys and lots of new ones. Nice to see you here as well Ryan. I thought of signing on 12/8/07 at the one year anniversary of Dick's passing, but didn't I'm sorry to say.

Thanks very much for the smoke offers. I will gladly take them!

Norm!

How's life treating you?
"Like it caught me sleeping with it's wife"

i bet you get alot of Norm jokes.

Thank you Yangdu! Good to hear from you. I hope things are going well for you and HI. I also hope to be able to swing a couple of knives from you soon. My HIKV infection has been walloped pretty good, but it's just dormant for the moment. However, I also think that I'll never return to my feeding frenzy days, which is actually a good thing for me. ;)

Thank you as well Dave! How are things in the trenches? Still working a lot of OT? BTW, I know every "Norm" joke ever told on Cheers. :D Every time my friend and I hit the local sports bar I give my name and introduce him as "Cliff." :)

i'm doing well, and yes, i'm out of the OT trench.

funny thing is, i'm looking to get back in it.

oh well.
