Hi!

I haven't learned all the different old models yet but what would be a good next step up after the RS and RMD if I want something with a bit beefier blade?

Thankful for your advice!

I think the Chopweiler would be nice:thumbup:

The swamp is taking orders at this time for the Rodent 9. If your looking at the aftermarket then a Chopweiler or an M9 would either be excellent.

If you like RMD then go for Rodent 6, Thicker and longer blade and the same perfect handle :D
... and the top guard... sure some will not like it much...

Yep, a Chopweiler (or Rotweiler) was (or is) on my radar and around the top on my wantlist, but they are d.mn hard to find :)

I am not looking for the biggest knifes in the family. More like 711 or Rodent 6 of the current ones (Not sure about the top guard on the 6 though).

Anyway, thanks for your info and please, if anyone has any other suggestions, they are more than welcome.

There have been a couple threads about the top guard on the RMDx. It actually doesn't get in the way near as much as you'd think.

I held several TG examples before ever buying the TGLB. The top guard is a love is dislike it kind of thing. I kept setting the TG down and buying something I wanted more.
Now not only do I have my new TGLB, but I was very quick to order the 6 as soon as it popped up. It was just the right time for a couple double guard knives to enter my options.

Keep your eyes open for an M6. An awesome piece of thick steel from the Swamp.

Gotta be a choppa! Plenty of small stuff from the swamp lately, waki being the exception.

Doubt we will see a re-introduction of the chopweiler or M6, though. Not at least in their past forms.

The chopweiler was the new ratweiler. So what about a....

CHOP MASTIFF!!!

:thumbup::cool::D

As they mentioned, the R9 is a good one to look at. I like to have small blades (rodent Solution), medium blades (RMD) and large blades (R9). The R9 is a great knife. Now, I would like something in the 7" range, but the Swamp hasn't released the R7 yet.

M6 is a great knife as well if you can find one.

I would hold out for a Chopweiler! It is a Monster of a Rat! I just got one and it is my favorite knife ever!

I just noticed your message. Thanks. Its just that the seller is very clear, he will not sell abroad. I'll see if he changes his mind near the end of the auction.

Thanks again :)

So I have recieved the RMD Le and the Rodent Solution. My first Rats and they are both awesome. Still waiting for a ChopW. Now I am looking for a smaller knife for hunting. I want it to match the RMD LE so preferably uncoated blade and black handles. What should I keep my eyes on? Any tips of certain models?

It is also going to be a user so no $400 suggestions please :)

Thanks!
