So school is out for me and I already got some money building up. My only problem is that I dont know what benchmade I want to add to the collection. I already got a 531 Pardue and right now am thinking about a large griptillian or maybe the axis flipper (opinions on the axis flipper would be nice to, I havent heard much about it). So besides those two, what other benchmades should I consider saving up for?

Thanks again guys!!!

All i have is a 531. Im thinking about the griptillian and axis flipper as my next purchase but was just trying to see what else is out there first. As for a budget, i think 200-250 is reasonable.

Ok. My suggestions, in addition to the two you listed:
940
707
585

It really depends on what you are looking for in your next knife. I think it's best to determine the intended use (office carry, EDC, weekend carry, tactical, etc.) and go from there. Also figuring out if you want a small (3" or less), medium (3-3.5"), or large (> 3.5") blade would help narrow your options.

For an all-around medium-sized knife a Griptilian or 940-series knife with would be what I would suggest.

For a Grip I really like the ones with G10 Scales such as the REI exclusive - S30V and green/black scales ($175 but up to 20% off during member sales) or the 551BK-LE - coated X15-TN and blue/black scales ($143 online). The 940 and 943 have aluminum scales and the 940-1 has CF scales.

I don't think you can really go wrong with any Benchmade really. Have not got one that i didn't like. Think a Griptilian would be a good choice. I'd get one with M4 steel though.Don't have one but bought one for my mom and i do think it is a good one. Jimping is nice on it and just overall light sturdy knife. Have a 275, 810, and 585. All great knives. I like the 275 or 810 the best.

I really like the looks of the 810 and 940. Is the 810 a good pocket carry knife? Also What does it mean if a knife's best use is tactical?

I pocket carry it alot. The jimping on it is crazy. Am going to grind it down and make it smooth when i get a chance. This knife is the best slicing knife i have. Beats the Para 2 and that is a fantastic slicer. The 810 can do it all. Very strong, M4 is a great steel, can be used for any task light or heavy, design is great, love the scales. Jimping on the liners bugs me though.

I think that is a good choice as long as you have big pockets. The Contego is 5.3" closed vs. 4.9" for a 710 although the Contego's blade is less than 0.1" longer.

I'm sure you can see a lot of thread on 810/950/940 selections. IMO, if you like 531 950 would be nice choice.

I love all and own them. It also depends on where you will be bringing and what will you be using it for. Also keep in mind what is the legal limit of blade length where you will be carrying.

This is my choice.

940: Smallest sibling in Osborne Tanto blade. The design is very elegant and ergonomically stylish. It has aluminum handle and blade is less than 3.5". (The city law on concealed knife carry law). This is fairly light blade, so it will not ruin my pocket of slacks. It may seem weak, but have no doubt, Benchmade has constructed this blade AXIS lock to withstand quite a bit of force. (698inch-lb of torque). Also narrow blade allows it to appear smaller (for the benefit of other people) so that it don't look like you are carrying huge knife.

950: a middle brother blade. It has very good ergonomics that fits in your hand nicely. If you are very tall, has bigger hands, you may want to test the grip before you buy. G-10 handle offer more grip than anodized aluminum handle. If you think G-10 is too rough, you can sand it down the edge with wood working sand paper and that will be the end of problem.

810: Biggest and has high jimping, very rough texture. The steel (M4 or M390) is one of the toughest, most wear resistant steel being used in production knife. One can EDC it, but I found it to be over kill. It comes in handy for weekend yard work, camping.

So, here is what I use. If you "work" in office environment, or wants to carry in downtown, urban environment, 940 will be the one. Suburban carry (I call it non Work carry), 950 offers more substantial blade. It has wide belly that makes very confident in cutting work.

I hope this helps you with selections.

Thank you all for the recommendations. Ive been researching all the knives you guys have recommended me and I like them all. Im still saving up a bit of money so I Still have some time before i make a final decision. when I make my final choice I will be sure to let you all know.
