I have been searching for words to describe this knife and still do not know exactly what to say. So, here goes.

It does not have a blade made from the latest and greatest steel.
It does not have a pocket clip.
It does not have a thumb stud or hole.

It does have a certain kind of classic beauty and an attention to detail that reveals itself very gradually.
It does have a strong lock and open/close smoothly.
It does have great geometry.

Notice the wood, and how when open there is no visible seam between the blade and the lock. Notice the grind and shape of the pointy flat ground blade, and... well just look at it!

Here's the pics, what do you think?

At the risk of saying we told you so...those of us who own one (or any Al Mar really) told you you'd like it. ;)

Nice pics.

No experience with Hawk but do have a S.E.R.E.,don't know what happened but it arrived with an infinitesely small ding on handle.Me being as anal as I am was not satisfied. They replaced with a new one.Excellent customer service. They are A-OK in my book.Really like your knife. One bitch,I do like no etchings, engravings or anything on the blades I buy, unless the letters M and S are there.Probably just a pet peeve peculiar to me.Leatherbird.

I've wanted an Al-Mar folding SERE for awhile but afraid that purchase might send wife to the funnyfarm( although I need the break).

Was there a bigger version?

Not with the exotic handles, just this size and the smaller Osprey, but with micarta and thumbstuds yes they have them. Check out newgraham's Al Mar page.

Congrats on the Hawk and an excellent set of pics. ;) I think it is one of the most ellegant knives around. I would probably own several of them were it not for the fact that my heart belongs to another gent's knife which will remain nameless. :p ;)
