What's so special about this knife?

I saw this Ulster knife on ebay and was watching it just because I liked the way it looked. Looks like a nice splitback whittler, but not new condition. After aquiring a Schrade 804, I've taken a liking to the split backsprings. I got a nice Case whittler the other day, and am afraid this may turn into an addiction. Then I saw this, which mey have cured me! What warranted the $400+ sale price on it?

Ebay #270287573269

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, seems like it's more a matter of overzelous bidding than the actual value of the knife. The last two bids happened in the last minute of the auction, with the final bid coming in with one second left (probably a snipe). Both bidders likely put in extra high maximum bids to insure that they'd win, and never expected the other to do the same thing. Great deal for the seller though! In situations like this the actual value of the knife is likely much closer to the third to last bid.

Charlie, do you think it's a Devine stamped Ulster or the seller just assumed that's what you call an old Ulster?

I agree with Eric. A sellers dream. Two enthusiastic bidders. The beauty of Ebay in action.
