What's special about this axe?

Maybe the person who just paid $1330.00 for the Black Raven Kelly is on a mission. ;-)))
I honestly have no idea what a fairly mint Kelly is worth. It says it wasn't sharpened but the original weight mark is 3 lbs and it now weighs 2 pounds 12.7 Oz which is just an observation but it seems to me that 3 pound heads should weigh 3 pounds.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was mystified by that. It's obviously been sharpened, just going by the weight and the relative proportions of the Perfect bevels. I admit it is a little harder to find a head that's not 3 1/2 pounds but this makes me think I should try to sell the two heads I have that are the same style and pattern only heavier and in better shape than that one!

So I'm not the only one that spends his break minutely monitoring every piece of Kelly steel that winds up on ebay...

I lost a Norlund that ended at 7 this morning for 7.50. Stayed up too late watching Contagion... blah. Ah well-I have three new axes back in Idaho I haven't even seen yet, including a factory new Woodslasher Cruiser, so maybe I should back off a bit.

What is special is that it is an auction and that 2 people thought it was special. I would help them find a handle for $100.

well, a fool and his money are soon parted....
an old salesman once told me, " it's worth what the next guy is willing to pay"

auctions can really bring out the fool in people.

the Kelly Perfect was worth $215.63 LOL

good for the seller:D

shakin' my head.
