It is the REKAT Sifu. Rekat is to my knowledge is no longer in the knife business. The Sifu had a 5.5 inch blade with an overall length of about 12 inches. The knife came in either ATS 34 or D2 steel. Handles were black G-10 or carbon fiber, some were green g-10 and real rare was the Blade Forums edition with a black blade and red g-10 handles only 50 made(finally got 1
) I believe that there was another Blade forums edition without finger grooves in the handle. Some people had problems with the locks not holding properly. Personally I have two and two friends of mine each have one and all of ours lock up great. If you can find one with a good lock, its a great knife.
The knife was a great design (scarry looking
) and while I am not a finger groove kinda guy, it worked on the Sifu and it felt great in hand. I was sorry to see it go.

That Sifu with red handles and black blade looks astounding (sp?). When did they stop selling them (I know after they were all sold, but when was that?)

I am thinking they sold out sometime in early/mid 2001. With only 50 made they are going to be hard to find. Kwaiken56 sold one in the For Sale forums last month and that is the first one I have seen for sale in a long time. It went for a good price.

Sorry to bust your bubble but there were not 50 red/black SIFU's made. They ran out of the red G-10 after 20 SIFU's and 20 Carnivore's. There was a long string of posts here with people having placed orders and not being able to get the knives. They were all numbered #/50 even though only 20 were made. The first batch was numbered before they found out that the particular red was sold out and unavailable, IIRC.
I have both the SIFU and Carnivore red/black #'d 2/50. I also have two numered of the first production run. (They were basically hand made.) Two of the "Grooveless" and the BFC Pukini(sn#2).
Good luck finding them. Mine are not for sale.
