I have two knives that I normally use as a all day carry knife. The only problem is that I cant choose between the two. The knives involved are the Spyderco delica and the Buck odyssey mod. 181. The Spydeco is the lightest and most easy to carry, the Buck is stronger build and has a better clip. Which off the two knives do you think is best for a carry knife?

If I had to choose between your two knives, I would take the Spyderco because Spyderco generally uses better quality steel than Buck.

There is your answer :D

I agree with nifrand. I carry at least 3 knives at all times. A small Sebenza, a MT Socom Elite, and a Victorinox Hiker. Hey, you never know.

I have had the Buck Odyssey and and the Spyderco Endura (larger version of the Delica).

Go with the Spyderco:
1. Better Steel, holds an edge MUCH longer
2. Better/Stronger Lock (I prefer the lockback)
3. Lighter, easy to carry
4. More useful blade shape
5. The Spyderco hole is easier to use that the oval hole on the Buck

Carry both :)
If you must pick just one (just one, why?) I would pick the spyderco.

I use to carry just a multi-tool with me befor I found BF. Now I always have at least one extra blade on me.

For example, today I'm going fishing and will be outdoors most of the day so I have on me a gerber multi-tool, spyderco Ayoob and a 3 blade old timer pocket knife.

Carry just one blade? I carry more than that when I go to bed at night. Carry them both, you need to start getting used to the weight for when you start buying/carrying more knives. It might also help to carry a couple of rocks in your pockets (or just buy a TOPS Magnum).

I would carry the Spyderco. I carried an Endura since 92 and replaced it with a Calypso Jr. 2 weeks ago. Good knives.

Carry the Delica...It's an excellent choice. If you want a really STRONG folder (with better steel than the Buck), buy yourself a Spyderco Chinook.:).

The Delica is stronger than you think.... plastics can be very deceiving

Definately carry the Spyderco...like the others said above, it's got better steel and a better design IMHO although I find the Delica is too small for my hands so I carry the larger Endura.

Plain? 50/50? Seratted? I'm looking for an every day carry. No specific needs other than carry knife!

I would have to recommend the PlainEdge, Scott. This is the most versatile of any edge type, IMHO.

The newer versions, of the Delica and Endura, use VG-10 steel and can sharpened to razor sharpness with ease and, more importantly, retain that edge. I've learned that with a sharp PlainEdge, you can cut just as well as you would with the SpyderEdge(unless you plan on doing alot of cutting rope, cardboard, etc.).

Hope this helps, good luck. :D

I didn't know that the ATS-55 from the Delica was a much better steel than the ATS-34 that is used for the Buck odyssey. By the way there both 50/50 Seratted.
