The best deal I got ? Well I haven't got it yet, I ordered a $70.00 Sog Nautical that I'm getting for around $45.00 from a friend of mine.

my best SOG deal so far is when I got back the SOG Field Knife that wildmanh had once talked me out of.

I have actually had a couple of "best deals" on SOG knives. One was a new in box Night Vision (the G10 handles) for $50 off the bay. I think since it was a new seller, they were trying to build up their history by letting some knives go for cheap. My other deal was a new in box SOG Tech II for around $60. Both of those purchases were in the last 5 years. Unfortunately, it seems the Seki fixed blades fetch a premium these days. Someday I'd like an SK-5 Tigershark if I ever have enough for what I've seen them go for lately.

Never thought of that. I bet the airports seize a lot of knives. I know that a buddy of mine had one confiscated. He forgot he had it on him and with no time to run it out to the car, forfeited his knife.
Are the airport auctions in a special place on ebay or are they just scattered throughout the knife listings?

Pretty much scattered. But you can search NTSA I believe. That's where I got it.

They take in a ton of them. As I understand the process, if they find a knife on you, they normally give you the choice of handing it over or leaving the line and doing something about it...like mailing it to yourself. Most folks, being in a hurry, just hand it over.
Most are small knives. A high percentage are SAKs.
They use to sell them to folks by the crate full at the Atlanta airport...a few dollars for a bunch of knives. No cherry picking, but you got a huge number of blades for pennies each.
I think now they ship them to a center someplace else.
