hi im going to store my customs out of thier sheaths in a safe.what oil should i use on the blades to keep away rust?thanks

I like Camellia oil. It's similar to mineral oil but I have found it stays on longer and doesn't get sticky/gummy and attract dust like some oils/lubricants do.

Blade Gallery has it.

Another believer in Camelia oil here. And a little goes a long way.

I would not store them in their sheaths. They really need to be in a zipper case. Better yet a Bill's Custom Case.

get it at any gun shop, Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc........Dave Ellis once said he wouldn't use anything else on the blade of his damascus ST-24 and that's good enough for me. I've been using it for 10+ years, no rust, no carbon spotting.

Renaissance Wax for me, I've never oiled a blade and have not had a spot of rust. Any of my knives not on display are in Bill's Cases, too.

I use plain old Johnson's paste wax and store them in their sheaths. Been doing this for many, many years without any rust at all. Wax works on my guns too and I store both in the same big safe. Back when I used oil I had some rust problems on both knives and guns.

I like Renaissance Wax as well, though I use with caution on damascus blades.
Some will look great after application and others will have a slight haze/cloudy appearance. Don't know why, perhaps the steel make-up. So I would test a small area first.

If you're going to store a knife in its sheath, wax is superior to oil. Not many people recommend storing a knife in its sheath, though.

This product is definitely better than any oil.....It coats the blade to protect it from oxidation.
