I have a Badger Attack E that I want to strip down to a mirror polish. I am learning that the teflon coating is a lot tougher than I expected. I am trying to rub it down by hand with 400 grit sandpaper and it's hard as hell. Have any of you done this? What did you use? Will the Busse factory do it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn't get any easier than 1-419-923-6471:D

I've done it with a lot of elbow grease, but dialing the Busse shop and boxing it up can free your arms up for lifting them heavy beers instead;)

...what else are you supposed to do while your baby's away?;)

Thanks. :) I think I'll take your advice and take the easy route. These blades are about as tough as they come.

I had a user Basic 9, and the coating was really worn down, mostly gone actually. Used it to clear my overgrown backyard, probing in sandy, rocky areas, and a few other things. I wore the coating, and decided to get another that I could just put away to stay pretty. Ended up trading away the user. I got a NO in another trade, and the new crinkle coating looks even harder to wear down than the old smooth one. If you have the crinkle coating, save your time, invest a little more and have them strip it down at the shop. Other than that I guess heavy grit sandpaper and alot of patience can go a long way.

Ad,

I'd take Strab's advice, even with the coating off you have a blade that is through hardened to around RC 60...harder than most files. That's a ton of elbow grease to get it to a mirror finish, a ton.

Although, I happen to know that INFI takes an amazing mirror finish!:D

Here's a crappy pic of Don Rac's traded User 9. If my wife hadn't taken the good camera to Australia, the pic would have been better. If i get the chance I'll try to post both sides later if there is any interest. I have since used it to clear out several cedar bushes from a neighbor's home. My buddy was impressed by this bad boy. He just hacked away at the bushes until there was just enough left to chain to the truck for pulling. Of course we later switched to a chain saw to save time. Hey we only had one basic and eight bushes to clear in a day!:D

Thanks for the advice, guys. I want to strip it down to a mirror finish and put some mammoth ivory handles on it. Do you know who can do the handles? Can Busse do it?

Ahh my old baby! Good to see she's still being used as hard as can be! But to get that much coating off requires extremes, and I don't think anyones as crazy with theirs as I was, but I could be wrong....
