How would I go about putting a sharp point back on a knife? The tip of a knife I bought over eBay(the damage didn't show up in the pics and wasn't mentioned by the seller) is kinda dull. I was wondering what the best way to go about putting a sharper point back on it is.

If it were me, I would use stone(s) and do it freehand. Anybody else have an idea??

Use a stone. Work with a medium/fine stone...you don't want to remove a lot of steel to quickly. Check your work often.
If the tip is just gone...broken or chipped off then work from the spine to bring that line down to the edge.
If it is just a slightly rounded tip then work the edge but remember to do it slowly.

Thanks for the help guys. Last night I took some diamond stones from a Lanksy kit I have and very slowly and lightly worked them on the tip. It's much better now and looks normal. It's not quite where I want it yet, but it'll get there soon.

Good advice there. Work slow, check often, be careful. The tip is very small and grinds quickly. A couple of bad strokes can round the tip easily.
When doing basic sharpening I always do the tip separately from the main part of the blade.

I use a file to do the bulk of the work (carefully), then finish things up with med. and fine stones. When finished, you can barely, if at all tell that the tip was repaired.
