what do you think is the better knife? I was looking at getting a great knife and cant decide on which knife.I was looking at fehrman or trace rinaldi or a busse,or even a swamp rat? I know each knife has its own benfits,so give me some ideas, Im just looking for a bad ass knife, that works, and i can depend on! Thanks

One word a Mora.

I do own "better" steel qualities, or knives with better handles...but some how they always manage to fail againt the mighty Mora.

Go spend the 10-15 bucks and try one out. If you dont like it. Well then spend the bigger coin.

But atleast try it.

I'll second the Mora blades.

I've had more expencive knives and more macho knives, but none cut as well as a Swedish Mora. I keep one in the glove box of the truck, one in my canoe bag, and another in my daypack for hiking.

I just got one of these in the mail.
I also have been looking at a Rinaldi, a Swamprat, Busse or San Mai Trailmaster but I realized that If I need one of those for brush clearing I'd be better of with a machete. If I need a skinning knife, better a drop point with some belly and I imagine, after seeing this mora that it's gonna do everything else I'll need (you wouldn't believe the out-o-the box edge!)

Read about it and others at www.oldjimbo.com His reasoning cleared up my freudian need for a big blade (although I think I am going to get a Valiant Bolo)

I have a Swamp Rat Bandicoot that I drastically thinned the edge out, and it outcuts almost everything, including my Mora. Hands down. Plus, it's much stronger so you can do many hard twisting cuts with it that you might be afraid to do with thinner knives. Great knife, and not heavy at all, it's "right sized" for it's purpose.

I haven't put my Fehrman through it's paces yet, it might even be better from what I've heard of 3V. It's very well made!

Having said all that, I still like my Mora, have many of them scattered in cars, packs, etc. They are good value, and very easy to re-sharpen. But they are nowhere near as good as the Swamp Rat. Plus the SR is very easy to both steel and sharpen.

I third the Mora. I'm new to them but they area great value. Mac

MORA, MORA,MORA!!!!!

I have many knives. The Mora is one I love. You can buy them many places. I got mine at ragweedforge.com amd kellamknives.com. Happy cuttin'. David

I have my SWAK set up with a paracord lanyard that holds a BSA Hotspark on the end. For added security you loop the lanyard and firesteel under your belt. It doesn't impede the draw but won't allow the knife to pop out of the sheath. I'm very impressed with the Mora SWAK. Enough so that I ordered two more and a Clipper.

These knives will be used by novices on a three day survival training course. They are a very good knife for this purpose. At $10 you can look a long time before you find a better buy. Mac

mora are great for utility work, so is opinel folders at least i think its spelt opinel??? the are really nice little knives for leatherwork and carving, or just a utility blade.
