Whats the big deal?

I don't hate the original ParaMilitary. In fact, aside from the handles being disproportionately large, the blades being overly thick, the locks being wrong handed, and the normal scale material being peel-ply G-10, there not even anything I don't like about either version.

Who hates this thing? Not this guy.

I don't hate either one of them, that's why I am still looking for my trade for ya, only about 20 more boxes to dig through bro.

RedDevil, are those YOURS!?!! Or is that like a pic from a store or something you found online. Either way, holy hell who's ever collection that is kicks major ass, between all of the CTS steels, those s90's, WOW! What a beautiful line up! Whoever did that has unbelievable precision, they look to be all EXACTLY the same distance apart and angle, event the order is awesome, what a sweet pic! Just looking at that pic makes me want to go buy some Spyderco's, if that didn't come from the catalog it sure as hell should be in there!

Yep, all 20 are mine. My image.
Wow, NICE work. and at least doubles for everything no less. You posted that on Spydy's FB page or something yet? I think it is the coolest Spyderco pic I have ever seen, it belongs in a catalog... I know it makes me want MOAR.

SO, I guess the verdict is, some like the PM1's, some don't. Probably par for the course for almost every decent blade out there...

Just watched this side by side, and between the two, I have to admit I like the PM2 more... but it is like picking your favorite kid, cos I love both of my kids :): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muR7EjHaPeU . He is off in a few places on some minor details (I wouldn't say that the PM2 blade is *signifigantly* bigger, but other than that, a decent comparison I think. I also am going to try my luck at finding one of those CF SV90 PM2 sprints, what a perfect combo... but sounds like at least a $200 knife tho :(. Never mind, maybe it was $200 when it came out, double that now, I like it, but not THAT much :/. Will try for M390 CF version I guess.

I never hated Para, but I never liked it either. I always felt that that big handle can have a longer blade. Para2 looks much better for me. Still the blade can be a little longer keeping the same handle size. Caly3.5 is just perfect in this sense.

One part of the redesign was to hide the sharp corner of the blade tang that is exposed when the knife was closed. Some folks would scratch themselves on that corner when digging in their pockets.

From am aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer the Para1. The clip on the Para2, when in the tip-up position, looks like some kind of "I did it in my garage" add-on.

That said, the scale color and blade steel choices for the Para2 are pretty awesome.

I gotta say, the main reason I got the Para2 and not the Para1 is because the Para2 handle grip fits my hand like a glove and by looking at the Para1, I see that the grip is shorter and therefore would likely not fit my hand as well. All the other changes, different 50/50 choil, bigger hardware, open back, bigger lanyard hole, etc. are just icing on the cake.
