What's the blade length on a Case Sodbuster Jr.?

I'm interested in getting a Case Sodbuster Jr. for my knife to use at school. (They're allowed at our high school, to some degree, even though most students don't know it) Problem is, I can't find the blade length for this particular knife, and I don't want to get in trouble for having a knife that's too "weaponized." Obviously, blade length matters in this regard, so I'm trying to stay within 3" (2.75" or less is even better). Will the Jr. Soddie work for this?

Also, I'd like to know how sheeple and non-knife-people (just because one is a non-knife person doesn't necessarily mean one is a sheep, at least IMO) generally react when they see you using a Jr. Soddie (or even a regular Soddie for that matter). I want to be as sure as possible that people won't freak out. I don't really want to go with a different knife, as I'm really digging the Jr. Sodbuster, but I will if I have to to avoid getting in trouble.

Are you stating here that you can carry a knife on your person at your high school in Illinois with blades less than 2 3/4 to 3 inches in length??

Please, pray tell, what High School is this exactly?

Most sites have the Case Sodbuster Jr listed as 3 5/8" closed. That is the same size as my Boker Cinch Sodbuster Jr. The blade on my Boker is 2 1/2" so I guess the Case would be 2 1/2" aswell

Gun,

I am sorry. I was so surprised at your statement of where you were going to edc your proposed Soddie Jr. that I for got to answer your question.

The one I have is 2 1/2 inches from tip to tang. Hope this helps a little.

2 13/16" from tip to scale.

Yes, yes I am.:D Its a private Christian school though, and as Christians are known for leaning more to the right side of the political scale than to the left, it has no stupid zero tolerance policy. When a discipline problem comes up, it's dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and is usually handled very well. I don't agree with them on all their policies (their dress code is pretty sexist towards males, for no apparent reason:confused:), but all in all, they have WAY more common sense than the public schools I've attended. The academic side of things ain't too shabby, either.

Edit: Forgot to add- There is technically no blade length limitation at our school, but if the principal (he's the one to go to for most things of this nature) thinks your blade is a little too long, he'll take it away from you during school, give it back at the end of the day, and tell you to bring a smaller one next time. Not a bad way to handle things, given the times we live in. He generally frowns on locking knives and fixed blades, too, although, knowing him, he'd probably make a few exceptions. The funny thing is, I'm the only kid at my school that carries a knife in school, much less knows that its ok to do so, that I know of. I guess they all go to sleep when we have the assembly each year on the rules and regulations. Most folks in Illinois are freedom-loving people (At least the generations that are older than my own). If it weren't for the suits in Chicago, we'd have had shall-issue CCW a long time ago, and automatic knives would most likely be legal to own, if not legal to carry.

sunnyd and Blues, thanks for the info on the blade length. Sounds good so far. How do people react when you use your Soddies in public?

I live in rural, small town western NC. Everybody carries a pocket knife.

Obviously, common sense dictates taking reasonable steps not to alarm someone in a public venue such as a shop or restaurant.

Well OK then Gun,

Except you didn't answer my question.. Now come on, I answered yours. .

One more time. . Please say, what high school in Illinois USA permits the student body to carry knives during school classes?.

Please just answer the question.

The school is Unity Christian.

Thank you.

Gun,

I can see where this particular High School's fine curriculum would be conducive to such a lenient pocket knife carrying policy. I might add that I support such a policy and wish my son and daughter could benefit from such a policy in the school they currently attend.

I would like to commend you for your honesty, integrity and outspokenness when challenged about your statements here and I sincerely hope and pray that you go far on all your future endeavours..

Many Blessings,

Anthony

(And it's a long way to go back to school for you. Worse than uphill in both directions! ;))

Gun,
I know yur lookin' at the soddie jr.,but if you should change your mind,I'd recommend ,whatever you get, don't get it too fancy ! Your principal might take a liking to it & decide,it's not for you! :D

Nah, he's got more integrity than that. That said, its funny you should mention a fancy knife in this thread, because, while searching da webz, I found a Jr. Sodbuster with a mirror-finished CV blade, that had the Wall Drug name on it. I thought that was pretty cool, because, on my youth group's trip to Montana last month, we drove right past the town of Wall in South Dakota (where the Wall Drug store is). I'm thinking about getting it, but the only place to buy it from is from Wall Drug's web site. I don't know whether its a reliable place to order from or not.

I actually almost bought a Boker folder at the camping supplies store in Wall Drug after driving through there a few weeks ago! That place is crazy. Like South of The Border, for the Midwest.

While I like the Soddie jr, I think the peanut is more image freindly and will still get most jobs done. Good on your school for having common sense. In middle school, seems like all the kids has sak classics, guys and girls. In high school (wow almost 20 years ago), carrying a small pocket knife was not an issue at all. There was a former student that did a muzzleloader demo for our history class (pan flash, not actual firing).

I've been EDCing a Case Sodbuster Jr for some time now and I love the knife. Like with all knives, I try to be discreet when I use it. I have used it in school (state university) a few times while eating and haven't had anyone react badly. We do have a zero tolerance policy at our school but as long as you don't seem like a threat then the general public doesn't seem to care much. I've had people eating with me ask me why I carry a knife and said that they didn't know anyone else that did so, but usually they figure out why when they're trying to saw through their food with a plastic knife.

Why not get yourself a CASE Small Texas Jack in Amber Bone?

Compact, within size limits, only excites envy not fear...2 blades to fiddle about with including an outstanding modified pen-blade!
