What's the consensus on the benchmade contego?

So I'm looking to get a new benchmade because I currently don't own any axis lock folders. What's the group opinion of the 810? I love reverse tanto shapes, the cerakote finish is gorgeous to me, I love G10, the axis lock, size, weight, etc. The 3 concerns I have are how hard is it to reprofile/sharpen M4 versus other steels? Is the blade easy to sharpen on an edge pro apex system? I've heard all the excessive gimping is extremely rough/sharp, how bad is it honestly? Could a few minutes with a sander knock the edges down?

I think the Contego is a great knife (I owned one) but ultimately it was just too big for my EDC preference. I never sharpened it so I can't offer any first hand opinion on it. I can tell you that if I really wanted a knife that would be the last of my worries. The handle is aggressive but it's not as bad as some make it out to be. Yes you could knock it down a little if it's too much for you.

EDIT: The GB is awesome, I had one, was a much better EDC for me size-wise.

You ever sharpen the GB?

Benchmade's M4 takes awhile to sharpen and I think you should get the Contego because it looks cooler but then it's kind of contradictory to your username to get a Benchmade over a Spyderco.

Haha I love spydies but honestly I've had more kershaws than any other brand out there. How did your bevel come from BM? I have a local knife store I'm going to swing by tomorrow to handle one and see

I have a contego and its impressive I don't think the jimping is bad at all and a nice slab of steel you can wrist flick out razor sharp out of box.......but there is always a but . The back spacer broke when I was trying out the glass breaker .....i really need to send that back to benchmade

I would have been completely happy if the spacer had not broken

I don't know the Contego at all. The Gayle Bradley has an outstanding rep with owners; M4 stays sharp a LONG time.

The contego is big, a bit to big for me to carry everyday, so it only sees 10% rotation.. or so.
Other than that, the grips are a bit sharp, not terrible though.
It holds a great edge! and the blade is well done, sweet grind lines.
mine came off center, and I cant get it to center, took it all apart, ect.
so look for a centered one perhaps. But I like mine, and I dont regret buying it. handle it first.
