I did a Google search and I couldn't find anything on it. Christine shut down the Simonich forum so I can't inquire about it there.

Does anyone own this knife? If so, what's your impression of it? The model number is BU895BKS. Thanks. :)

PS: If this knife has been discussed elsewhere and someone could post a link, that would be great.

Nice looking knife.....

Thanks, MWallace. My Raven Legacy arrived today. I'll pick it up at the Post Office after work this evening and post some initial impressions.

Update: I picked up my Raven Legacy and opened the box. The knife is just as nice as it appears in the picture. I'd categorize it as a light fighter. Fit and finish are excellent. The grip is roomy enough for even the largest hand and the texture of the Gunner Grip provides a firm, non-slip surface. The blade is bead-blasted and the edge is shaving sharp. The swedge could easily be sharpened if someone wanted to do that.

I've long admired Rob Simonich's knives but they were a bit pricey for me to consider. Street price for the Raven Legacy brought it well within reason.

I'm not sure why the Raven Legacy hasn't been discussed before in this forum. Perhaps it's so new that it hasn't had time to get into circulation. Or perhaps the high list price keeps some potential purchasers from considering it. Whatever the reason, it's currently out of stock on the Buck website.

Based on my initial examination, I give the Buck Simonich Raven Legacy two BIG thumbs-up!  :D

bld522.....Again, Nice looking knife. Thanks for the review.

The closest thing I have to a tactical blade is a early 650 Nighthawk I picked up a couple of weeks ago, with the all black handle. Still in the box, but I wouldn't call it new.

I'm going to put the Raven on my "I want one list".....
Enjoy the knife,
Mike

Thanks, Mike.

I've got a few tacticals including a Blackjack 1-7, an Entrek Force Recon, a Busse Straight-Handled Satin Jack, a Boker AF-12, and now the Buck Simonich Raven Legacy. The Raven Legacy, while the smallest and lightest of this group, is a worthy addition IMO. I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you decide to pick one up. Here's a pic in the order listed for size reference:

Congrats on what looks to be a fantastic knife. Please update your review after you've done some slicing and dicing. I've entertained the thought of getting one of these, but I keep telling myself I'm broke.

Thanks, Tony. I'm not sure how soon I'll get around to using it. But it really is a nice knife. I'd suggest you pick one up before they're gone!

I am working overtime tonight. Hmmmm, feed the kids, buy gas, or a new simonich. My wife works so I guess she can cover the first two!!

bld522,

Great looking knives, and a great photo. Looks like you gotta hella' collection of tacticals going.

Do you collect anything other than tacticals? Since we're in the Buck sandbox (forum), do you have any other Bucks?

Mike

My first knife was a Buck Folding Hunter. Mike. My grandfather bought it for me in the 1960's. I have it to this day. Since then, I've acquired another Folding Hunter, a Kalinga Pro Folder, and the Raven Legacy.

I'm primarily a hard-use, fixed-blade knife collector. I collect knives ranging from choppers and camp knives to tacticals and utility knives. Most of my fixed-blade knives are a bit more "industrial-strength" than the Buck offerings.

I also collect folders from the usual suspects . . . Buck, Kershaw, Benchmade, and Spyderco to name a few.

I don't have a big knife budget. I try to limit my fixed-blade purchases to $200.00 or less and my folder purchases to $100.00 or less. Fortunately, many fine knives can be had in those price ranges if you know where to look for them.
