What's the deal with Case pocket-worn knives?

Bear with me, guys, I reckon its the phase of the moon and the alignment of the planets, but I seem to be going to my bi-annual infatuation with Case knives. I have a birthday coming up and something's been directing me to give the new ones a look. I'm curious about their "pocket-worn" knives. What's the deal? They claim that these knives leave the factory with "special hand finishing for a pocket-worn feel" but, according to the New Graham site, on average they don't seem to cost more than an equivalent "regular" model. Anyone here partial to the pocket-worns? Thoughts?

I had a pocket worn congress knife. I got rid of it because the blades were not carbon but that stainless that they use, which I don't care for. The bone jigging was sort of "softened" like it had been worn down over years of carry. I guess they just buff them down to simulate that and it would only be a another step or two so the price would not go up too much. Other than that, I can't remember much of a difference from their other knives. I liked it and would still have it if it had carbon blades.

Ive owned some of these when they first came out. The handles are more polished, smoothed out of any rough edges. The bolsters, the same. The blades, jus tlike any others (surgical stainless). They are good knives

Thanks, rev_jch. I guess I don't understand why, given this, anyone would prefer the "regular" models. It just seems like these get an extra dose of TLC before leaving the factory. That's a good thing, no? Aside from the desire for CV steel (you're right, Bobwhite, it is a bummer there are no carbon pocket-worns), why not choose these models? Who out there opts for a knife that is less polished and still has its rough edges?

I have a red bone canoe, one of the 1st ones made. My kids gave it to me for fathers day years ago. Its been a great carry knife. So smooth you hardly know there is a knife in your pocket!! The handles were a really nice polished "worn" look and feel. The bolsters were rounded of all sharp edges. They are great knives.

It is true, they would be better if they were CV, but still they are a good value!

I could not agree more with you, MNBlade...as others have said and I agree, the pocket worn knives get some extra hand finishing....like ALL of their knives USED to get...and like they all SHOULD get.....why not do them all that way...especially for a small $ premium.

I carry a 50 year old case single blade slim trapper with carbon steel blade and would not trade it for 10 of the stainless ones. It's a great knife and you can pick them up at most knife shows, I believe I paid around $50 for this one less than a year ago. It is turly pocket worn.
Only carbon steel for me, although the pocket worn are nice knives.

I have that same knife and have had it for about 50 years. I still carry it once in awhile and it cuts like a lazer.
